What is with the community watch group there at UT Austin? I find it revolting that the administration have turned their favorite students into snitches and spies. It's pretty sad. It reminds me of Nazi, Germany....only no gas chambers and Ghettos.

Actually... rankings for engineering schools are based on opinion only... all other ranking of programs is done through a process of combining "favorable" statistics like faculty/student ratio, dollars spent per student, availability of professors etc etc...

College rankings are based on fund raising and research grant money not on any type of quality assessment that focuses on lecture or assignments. Everything and every student that promotes UT is completely biased.

Ohhh I LOVE the fountain on west campus...I actually went streaking & doggy paddled in there on a dare by sorority sisters...having to hide under one of their beds afterwards so campus police wouldn't find me...that had to have been my best & LOWEST point of my 4 years there! you are GUARANTEED if you are in the top 10% of a texas school, but you still have a very good chance of getting in if you have good grades and test scores... UT's acceptance rate is actually 51%... i just got accepted as a transfer for next semester (3.92GPA, 1320SATI)... good luck

The "Top 10% Law" is no longer. It really depends on the size of your school. If your school is small and you're not in the top 10%, your chances are better. It also depends on your SAT score.

I wouldn't worry about it, my friend had crappy SAT scores and was in the top 20%, but got in for computer science, it depends on your major. If you want to be business they take like the top 3% but, say, communications is pretty much guaranteed in

It depends on what college you apply to. I am in the sollege of natural sciences and the tuition base starts at $4850.00 per semmester. Its a great university with a great diversity. It is worth the money!

Best choice you will ever make...One of the best state universities in the U.S. Over 6 billion $ in funds available for education (OIL $). Best facilities (libraries, classrooms, etc) + Austin is a great college town....LOVE the place and it has opened great doors in my life as it is well respected and known... GO HORNS....
