Fallout 3 had a definite ending. Once you complete the main quest, that's it. The DLC Broken Steel begins after the main quest and retconning that definite ending and thus allowing players to once again explore the wastes.

People assumed that being a Bethesda title, that they would be allowed to continue playing after the main quest. That was why there was an outcry.

I personally waited and bought the GOTY edition with all DLC.

I wish Fallout 4 has no ending like the Elder Scroll series, when I first play Fallout 3, I thought it has no ending then I just proceed thru the main quest intending to finish it first then explore later but I was shock after the credit roll >.<

@Gameshunter3012 It has an ending but it will end the game too, unlike the Elder Scroll series, after the main quest complete the game still continue, rephrase: For the Fallout 3 & NV, after you complete the main quest, the game is end, and will bring out the credit roll then return you to the main menu, and that's it, you start over again.

@ComGenSolDieR I know about the Elder scrools.I have all of them except the first one.(I even got the second one.YAY!It's rare today!).And I don't have Fallout 3 but I have seen most of the main storyline(quests),and I had imagined that it would have an ending.I though it was rather obvious but I see most people didn't expect it.But still.There is that mod about the never ending gameplay.Do you have it?

You know what I wish? Lucasarts or Waner Bros. Games (they own the rights to everything Lord of the Rings in terms of games) would allow Bethesda Games to develop either a Star Wars game or a Lord of the Rings game in this kind of fashion, and then allow Bethesda Softworks to publish it (or maybe they can co-publish as Lucasarts is everything Star Wars WB has all the rights for LoTR to use anything from the books and movies). I think it would be really awesome :)

@Ivarsted No shit, i got that part. what I'm getting is that was a illogical deal, to let them even make an MMO called Fallout without any foundation from the actual series. It doesn't matter now, since Bethesda already won the lawsuit last Wednesday or Thursday. Interplay should've understood the terms of the deal though, and considering their finanacal state, should've knew they didn't have the resources to make the game anyway.

Why would anyone find the "ending" part to Fallout 3 bad?. I think gamers would have had enough gameplay with Morrowind and Oblivion. I loved the wa Fallout 3 ended because it was tragic, it was sad, but it left that impact that a good book or a good movie leave.

The tragic hero from vault 101 who went out to find his father ended up sacrificing himself for the good of mankind. That's the kind of story I love.

Like they mentioned in the video, the ending was so rejected because gamers had too much time on their hands and they just didn't wanted it to end. This makes me think that maeby, just maeby, Bethesda released Broken Steel to please the fanboys.

That or they just wanted an excuse to sell it.

They say that Scrolls was going to release on 11/11/11, but its Minecraft that was going to be released on that date. At Minecon (after 11/11/11) they showed a very unpolished version of Scrolls so it would suprise me if they claimed to release it that date.

@129muk You are aware that Bethesda Softworks did not produce New Vegas right. Obsidian Entertainment developed it and Bethesda published it. Bethesda did oversee the work at Obsidian and New Vegas is still considered a canon game of Bethesda but they did not develop it. It's still a great game though. Fallout and Elder Scrolls will kick all other game's asses.
