Either the biracial or mixed category or just label in what is in your geneaology. It's just the truth that the person labeling it has more than 1 race. it's not that much of a classification in fact it fails as one if there are no specifics and that their are biased gaps in it. Just my thoughts.
and honestly what would be the threat??? blks can become educated if they choose, they can have money and well paying jobs, they can meet other educated men and marry. they can be well spoken and make friends...So when i hear that threatned part..I never get that comment?
I understand what she means..ITs another form of division between people of color.many bi-racials appear to be are ashamed of their blk side and racial pride is instilled by parents, cant be done if the parent is absent or has non themselves. However, i understand blks are represented on the news negatively, as thieves, killers, etc. who wants to be that..Me personally as a blk , I'm threatned by mixed race people they are in my family and I love them and many of our battles have been similar.
2/2 The ppl from that documentary probly came from a generation where those options weren't available. Being multiracial is something that constantly gets scrutinized by ppl from both blk & wht society. I've been yelled at many times for making a point of saying I'm mixed rather than "black" by black people. Mixed ppl don't need a separate racial classification but I do think that ppl need to recognize that biracial ppl come from 2 separate ethnic groups & stop trying to force them to choose.
I understand what you were getting at and in regards to the "Biracial, not Black damnit" video, I agree. I don't agree with race in general. However, you brought up the point that there is an option for "multiracial" on college application forms. I just want to clarify that it hasn't always been that way. I got in an argument in high school w/ a teacher b/c she wanted me to mark "black" on my answer sheet and I marked "black" & "white" b/c there wasn't a multiracial option. 1/2
Its funny, when a person is not "Multi Cultural," "Bi-racial" or "Mixed" they get real upset about it when someone with a nontraditional background raises a question about it. It's always been a sticky situation. I am EUROPEAN GERMAN, WELSH, FRENCH, AFRICAN, SPANISH AND NATIVE AMERICAN. And because of what people told me when I was younger, (when asked) I would say I was BLACK and NO ONE THOUGHT I WAS. It all depends on the genes... I have only dealt with this from other African Americans.
Just a reminder to people if you leave rude comments with foul language derogatory to anyone, they will be deleted. So don't be surprised if you don't find your comment.
If someone is bi-racial and they are simply classified as black, that would be inaccurate.
As someone who is bi-racial, its not so much that the people I have heard from are upset about being forced to be black or included into the black category but that blacks put them down as youngsters and harassed them and rejected them.
Now, I didn't grow up with either blacks and whites so the issue is objective to me.
I used to ask the same thing. What is the intent. It's like creating a subculture...becoming a minority within a minority. I almost think some people like being segragated. This video makes a lot of sense to me. I'm for one love.
Checking multiracial and other all day long lol! You would have too live that life too really get it. And even though you look quote un quote "mixed or light skin", both of your parents saw themselves as black so its no problem for you.....and people who may feel the way you do. However others may have been raised a different way than you. I was raised native, black and white and both of my parents are mixed both bi racial so i don't think i should be called just black.....makes sense?
Where I come from we dont have racial registration forms. I'm all in favour for battling against these racial taxonomies.
However, given the fact that US society does work with these racial registrations what do you suggest a biracial person to fill in? Black or white? How do you motivate that decision? Why problematize the creation of a mixed race box? As a matter of fact, that would be the first step towards eliminating the whole race registration system, as everyone can tick that box.

Alot of biracial (half black) people get angry and say the black community supposedly force them into the black catagory
If you are both black and white
I dont see what is wrong with someone one referring to you as black
because that is what is a part of you
you are both
I understand wanting your other half recongnized but
that isnt our responsibility

Lol, um well they want to be different from being forced to black, because it's injustice, they arnt black.

@RoxStew5 Your video tends to ramble and your point winds up being enunciated in a circuitous way.
The idea fo racial category is a moot point. Its already part of the Census which is the official count of the country.
It would be nice if such categories were on job forms but that's minor.
Biraciality is simply a matter of parentage. That's why Iam bi-racial because my parents are of different races.
Many blacks are sadly threatened by bi-raciality because they cling to one drop rule.

the only classification we need is "HUMAN" until the world does that it's going to be messed up. that's my opinion.
