Unbelievably handsome---Guy was sort of a cross between James Dean and Errol Flynn. Either men or women must go ga ga when they see him here. All the photos are fab (he can't take a bad picture, it appears) but that black sweater one at 1:23 is smoldering hot!! Thank you so much for the tribute!!
@kkallebb : Nowhere is that documented and according to all I've read, especially on mitchum he was solidly heterosexual so it would be impossible for him to make such a comment. While I don't have a problem with any of the two being gay it truly annoys me when individuals who are no longer around to defend themselves or set the record straight (no pun intended) are labeled to satisfy one's fantasy. Let both gentlemen rest in peace and have respect their families.
@twilson11208 The story of the GM-RM encounter comes from Edward Dmytryk, who directed them in "Till the End of Time" (1946). Acc to ED, GM fell in love/lust with RM and offered to give him a b/j. RM let him. Of course RM was str8. A lot of srt8 guys let gay/bi guys blow them, so long as they don't have to return to favor. Nothing is more common. Incidentally, I didn't "label" either of them. I just said that GM gave RM a b/j. What's the problem?
@kkallebb : Again, you're blurting out names with nothing to back it up but hearsay. Where exactly is it shown that Edward Dmytryk made such a comment? You initially said RM made the comment, now you say the info. was made by Edward Dmytryk . Again, where and from what documented source did you get this information? My problem has nothing to do with sexual orientation but more so a prevalent and most shameful abuse of free speech where one can make stories up from thin air to satisfy a cause.
@kkallebb Its a fascinating story. Who knows what happened when all those good looking guys were bumping up to each other. They just had to be discrete of course. Be nice if there were other posts on this subject--open up You Tube's treatment of old H'wood.
@ashandblake : Get in line because you are not alone. I only found out about this man not too long ago and he just made me realize why I'm glad being a woman...but shit....why couldn't the likes of him been materialized in our generation?
I saw him in 'Since you went Away'. His first movie. He showed in for a minute or something. Even Robert Walker's character says something about a' looking man'. There he performs as a sailor. Actually he was a real sailor back at the time. But I remember him more for the tv series. Gosh! I don't remember that series' title. Anyway he was more known for that series.
Just read The Man Who Invented Rock Hudson...a bio of the gay agent Henry Willson....Madison was one of his first discoverys.Lots of "inside " info about him and Rory Calhooun and Rock and Tab etc etc....worth a read....thanks for posting these photos of this beautiful man... I was raised watching him on TV and loved him.
For sheer physical beauty, few can top Guy Madison. In the 40's, he had an innocent, small-town, un-self-conscious quality that heightened his handsomeness - unlike the good-looking stars and male models of today, who are ultra-aware of their sex appeal. Thanks for posting this amazing collection of great photos!
@sandaglad Nice to see another who remembers him! Had he actually had any talent as an actor,I have no doubt he would have been just as enduring as a Lancaster or Douglas. He was never more beautiful though, than in "Till The End of Time".Hope you agree!
Guy Madison had some rather controversial ideas about who ran Hollywood...movies and television. It was difficult for him to find work near the end of his life. He also made the mistake of making inferior Italian "sand and sandal " movies in the 1960's. His marriage to Gail Russell was not helpful. For several years his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of Graumann's Chinese Theatre had a diagonal crack. That has been repaired. He loved his daughter.
That cool and lucky motherfucker was married to the great Gail Russell!

Too bad he isn't more well-known. He could give Paul Newman and Robert Redford a run for their money! ;-)
