  • They should have compared this with the Quattro sport. The reason being, both cars were built in limited numbers and the sport kicked out over 300bhp (actually more). In a straight line the sport would do the rs.

  • i cant wait 4 the new Quattro. the inline 5 goes the right way like the original. the ttrs upsets me because so much weight is upront i bet it understeers everywhere

  • dont much care i would still take the ur quattro any day of the week even on a tuesday.

  • My name says it all....

  • Why no quattro sport :(

  • TT (in any form) will never ever come close to the legacy of the original QUATTRO!

  • AUDI, LEGENDARY.

  • I'm not sure, but is he trying not to sound posh?

They talk about the 5 cylinder sound, but where is it in this clip? Sound production is a bit poo :(

  • 5 cly 4 ever!!!

  • what a nob

  • why compare a TT RS (tuned TT) with the standard 20v quattro?

it should be compared with the quatto sport!

  • @agb6659

    Rofl

The quattro is an coupe, the TT a roadster!

    S1 (Quattro)

    S2 (The new round version)

    S5 Last version

  • @Geggius

you sir dont have a clue

"A roadster is a two-seat car, without a fixed roof and with emphasis on sporty handling"

"A coupe is a closed car body style (permanently attached fixed roof)"

looking at the ttrs with its "permanently attached fixed roof" aka COUPE this would make it comparable to the iconic quattro sport, also a COUPE

    "rofl"

  • @agb6659 Because theyre both 5 cylinder engines. The TTRS isnt a tuned TT,Its a whole new engine. The standard TT as a 2.0 4cyl turbo charged engine with 200bhp or 272 in the TTS Which is the most they could squeeze out of the 2.0 engine. They did think of using the 3.2V6 But they didnt like that engine and thats why they made a whole new 2.5 5cylinder engine, similar to the one in the old quattro. Thats why theyr comparing these two cars!!!

  • @agb6659 Because they both had the 5 cyl engine, and the UR Quattro was a beefed up 20v quattro

  • i had a 1983 quattro what a car i had fun fun fun in it i sold it to buy a house in1986 if i knew then what iknew now it would still be with me oh by the way she isnt also had a 200 turbo another classic but remember back in that time audi was no where near as popular because the majority of people did not know about them thats my blast from the past still love em

  • audi quattro is my dream car, but it is sooo expensive....

but you can annoy the BMWs:)

  • @meoman the 3.1 seconds to 60 was for the short wheelbase S1, of which 35 were made for group B rallying at a cost of £220000 not the roadgoing sport from 1984 which made 60 in 4.8s with 306BHP, sadly as much as it pains me to say the TTRS would blitz the sport as 26 years is a long time.

  • the TT is the top of the range right, so why are they comparing it to the normal quattro?. the top of the range quattro sport would leave the RS in it's wake on any road on any surface in any condition, 0-60 in the quattro sport was 3.1or soeting like that and that was back in the 80's

  • Awesome cars but my ears are bleeding from the commentary.

  • SOUNDTRACK! what is it...

  • the new audi would just see backlights against the s1 lol

  • I have owned and loved an Audi wide bodied quattro and can say that it the best car Audi has ever made , have also had 3 tts and now have s3 which is good but lacks soul , bring on rs3!

  • Quattro was made for men, the TT for women

  • I would rather have the Quattro

  • top TT vs original quattro? OK, how about TTRS vs final version of the S1?

  • @missmouse3 TTRS vs. S1 EVO 2 well that is a no brainer!! GO 80'S GOD!!

  • Eaven if the new audi is faster or accelerate better, i dont care about it so much almost not at all. U are really dumb if u buy the new one when u can shose the old lovely quattro <3

  • damn he is indeed boring, but nevertheless great cars!

  • i dont care about the TT RS , i rather would buy a Audi Quattro ( a second one ;-) )

  • I rather buy a fully loaded TT RS than an R8.. is just the most balanced car in the world.. plus i live at a 9500ft height city..

  • @Niercaa: That's how it's done :-)

  • I almost cried

  • This guy is about as boring as eating ready salted crisps whilst watching Blackburn play Bolton on a rainy afternoon.

  • 0-60mph is 4.6sec not 4.7sec. its faster than an M3

  • The best Audi (since the UR) was the RS4, if the TTRS was half as good as the RS4 it would have a chance but sadly it`s not even close, the TTS drives better i`m afraid

  • @paultatters ahhh tricky one on b5 rs4 or the b7 rs4

  • Used to work for Audi Sport and have just driven the TTRS not a bad car but not even the best TT, engine sounds great but really is short of punch in the upper reaches, th UR 20v was a ground breaking car - awesome, end of!!

  • I like the video and agree that the orginal Quattro was a milestone but he is such twat about the new TTRS I have driven one and getting one this Friday the 30th I think it is awesome.

He is living in the past old fool

  • TT RS & just quattro turbo 20V 1990

  • I like the cars , Enjoyed the comparison.

  • This guy is slightly less interesting than a boiled potato.

  • The legendary 5cl turbo!!!The legendary audi s1!The soul of s1 in the body of a TT-RS !

  • I'm really disappointed by this video... This guy ruins the video... He is a slow, useless, nonsense-talking bore without a single idea about what he has driven!! I mean he's right that the Quattro is a true milestone for the motorsport industry, but he literally buried TT's reputation when EVERY single else review I've watched considers it a baby R8 and by far the best car at its price tag..If I had €76200 (price in Greece) I'd buy it no questions asked! Marvellous car!

  • this guy suck! this tt sud test on top gear!

  • This guy is seriously stuck in his childhood.

As for revolutionary Audi models, what about the B5 S4/RS4? What about the B7 RS4? Those are definitely up there.

  • zomg what a fucking bore

  • This isnt the greatest Audi TT ever? What a load of bullshit! Its an amazing car! I test drove one a few weeks ago and it was glorious!!

  • Isn't 2260 cubic centimeters rounded up to 2300 and not 2200? So it should actually be a 2.3.

  • i remember a fiat specialist mention that one of the audis shares the coupe block. tbh im kinda clueless. but aimed at the video i prefer the original quattro.

  • the TTRS i think has the block from a fiat coupe 20v Turbo, just with different internals, still dont sound as meaty and roary than the coop

  • @16valveBravoSpoonz

Hahah, think again.. an Audi RS with a fiat 2.0l engine... hmzz.. drunk? ;)

  • @16valveBravoSpoonz

it has the block from the US market GTI doesnt it?

  • I would take a 2010 BMW Z4 over a TT RS any day. It looks better, its faster, and you dont always need a turbo.

  • @Cole112986 the Z4 has a lower top speed and a higher 0-60, how is it faster?

  • can,t beat the old audi,s they were the car

  • is the 0-60 time for the quattro even correct, I'm sure its 4.5 seconds

  • I think the Sport-Quattro does it in 4.9secs (306hp). The Quattro 20V (220hp) needs 6.3secs 0-60, the 10V (200hp) in 7.1...someone correct me, if i am wrong...

King of them all is the Quattro S1, or E2 if u like, with stunning 2,6 secs 0-60 on tarmac and 3.0 on gravel.

  • NO IS THE ANCESTORS!

  • A deLoeran is a shit car, its an insult to compare it to the ur-quattro, its like comparing a Ferrari with British leyland!

The deLoeran brushed stainless bodyshell is simply awful. Thank god that company went bust

  • Porn film music theme in the background ???

  • The audi ur-quattro is still audi's greatest ever car and one of the greatest cars of all time. It is a timeless classic and the fact that the sport quattro costs more now than the new R8 says it all even after 24 years.

The TT's all be it look good, but they don't hold a candle to the original ur-quattro, especially the sport and 20v quattro, these are simply magnificent cars.

  • @dindoton Fantastic car..... BTW, It kind of reminds me the DMC DeLoeran

  • gooodddd damn that TT RS is good looking. I mean, that last shot those headlights looked like n orgasm. jesus, that is one truly good looking car

  • can this guy be more boring

  • @bfransman He's just factual and sedate. If you're looking for a showman and idle gossip then go and watch Top Gear.

  • (anal mode on) The quattro has a displacement of 2226 cc. NOT 2260cc . (anal mode off) lol XD

  • w00t wales!!

  • Audi RS 4 ewer and thats it.

  • Can anyone tell me the song name at 0:06?

  • I've got an Audi 90 quattro 2.3. There's no better combination than quattro and 5 cyl. engines...

  • Agree.

    i drive urs4

  • @whiplash01061984

yes, but 5 cyl with turbo is better :D

  • @whiplash01061984 Yesterday I bought a 1985 coupe quattro :)))) I'm over the moon!!!! My wife is not happy, she says it's a heap of crap, but I'll keep my quattro. Even if she leaves me, I don't care :)

  • @whiplash01061984 I had 2 of them. An 1985 and an 1987 one. Also an 1983 (Audi 80 2.2E Quattro). All were best to drive! You only mustnt forgett that 4WD is good, but it doesnt breake better =P

  • @hshmanowin I drive an Audi 90 2,3E quattro and I totally agree.... 4WD doesn't mean increased breaking capability, but I'm from Germany where we use to say... "Wer bremst verliert" :-)

  • @whiplash01061984 Den Spruch kenne ich *G* This time i have an Audi 90 2.3E but no Quattro. If my boss will pay me more money i will went back to quattro. But repairing something is much expensiver than for my normal one =P

  • @whiplash01061984 Hi, i think so .

  • My mom had a 1986 Audi 5000CS Turbo (in 1990) with that awesome turbo inline 5 when I was in grade school. It had a ton of turbo lag on the bottom end but when the boost hit watch out. Mid range and top end power was superb as it had no problem pulling on many V8 cars of that time. Unfortunately, it was at the Audi dealer more than she drove it. Its hard to explain just how unreliable that car was.

  • The Audi's of that period were very reliable especially the 5 cylinder engine.

  • I cant speak for all Audi cars or Audi owners of that time but in my mothers case her 5000CS Turbo was beyond unreliable at least in the area of electrical gremlins. The inline 5 turbo was bulletproof however.

To add to that the Audi name has never been associated with reliability however I still admire their cars.

  • 30 years ago Audi had problems but starting with the Quattro, galvanized body and the 5 cylinder things changed. I'm originally from Germany and since there are way more German cars on the road there I can tell you that BMW had bigger reliability problems then Audi 20 years ago. The hand brake was one big problem when it got stuck (not cheap). A Quattro was also rather expensive to maintain. My dad had a 100 2.3,. I had a 90 2.3 Quattro, my sis still drives an 80 2.3. Can't complain.

  • Well, your mother was very lucky then.I own a Audi 5000S Quattro-turbo and it has never failed me on ice or snow, where bmw for example would not even dare to go.Those older Audi's are simply magnificant.

  • @Henzzman, I loved that car even with all the electrical issues it had. I was supposed to inherit it when I turned 16 (back in 1993) but unfortunately the issues with the car got to expensive and my mom sold the car before I could get my hands on it.

  • Well mine is in pretty good shape.I live in eastern europe and the car was delivered from germany.I guess you were pretty sad, when you didnt get this wonderful machine.A lot of school mates would have probably turned heads, when you would have arrived to school and allowed them to hear the power of the 5cyl turbo.

  • @Henzzman, I wish I would have got to own it of course without all the electrical issues. I loved that inline 5 turbo and actually loved the boost lag in the lower gears as it gave me that rush of power. However, give it a stab at highway speeds and the rear would squat and it would go like mad. Great car!

  • Yeah,it does tend to flip up the front end of the car, when you give it a nice slam on the throttle. And yes the sound of the 5 pot, with the catback exhaust, that i have, along with the turbo.gives me a definite feeling of awesome power. Its just a feeling i cant describe, when im driving with my Audi, favourite tunes playing and the sound of the 5 pot coming from the engine. The sound is best, when you change gear at high rpms.

  • FRankl is the bollocks

the TT is pure sanitised, remote, modern VAG crap though

  • you guys should do the porsche cayman meets the porsche 944.

  • I LOVE the Quattro

  • Audi Quattro,Legendary!

  • Love the quattro. not a fan of the TT though, not sure why; maybe the looks. either way, good video :)

  • He didn't even punch the gas pedal!

How about a verses battle next time.

  • yes they are pretty cool cars bouth

but i am not big lover of german cars

but still they are performens machins

  • if i was to choose a car based on performance, not looks, i would go for the new sti instead of the RS. Better performance for less

  • Blah blah, jadda jadda, blah...

And nothing happens in this video, so why do they bother making it? You better had written this story and some photo's, there is no added value in this video, because there is nothing interesting to see.

It seems like anything has to be on video these days, even if there is no reason for it, this bloke is just driving around like my aunty, which must be frustrating for the cars, i know it is for me, ik want screaming engines and smoking tyres, not this!

  • For the price of the TT RS, wouldn't most people prefer a BMW M3 convertible? I know I would. I can see some allure for the Audi but overall I feel like the BMW does the same thing as the Audi and gives the driver a lot more for a similar price.

  • What are you a salesman?

  • Yea man, wanna buy a bimmer? I'll cut you a good deal haha

  • No thank you, I prefer Acura's.

  • Nice grammar

  • Who said anything about preferring FWD?

I said, I prefer Acura and said nothing about FWD. This shows how much you dont know about Acura, since most Acura's are AWD not FWD as you tried to imply. The TSX & base TL are FWD, but the RDX, MDX, TL and RL are all AWD. The car I own is a 2006 Acura RL SH-AWD. Why in the hell would you care about what I like anyway. It shouldn't make any difference to you what I like or don't like.

  • As an Acura owner myself (2003 Acura CL-S 6MT coupe) I have to admit the Acura SH-awd system is pretty amazing. BMW and Audi already have plans to debut similar AWD systems.

  • I drove a 6 speed Type-S CL years ago. That was one fast coupe! When they make the CL again, it shouldn't be a 2 door TL, it should a purpose built sports car, like the Z, Mustang and others in that class. I loved that 3.2 liter V-6, no turbos or superchargers, just speed! The name, ripper3200; racing around with a 3200cc (3.2 liter V-6) engine. I no longer own a TL but have owned 3 of them. What was the top speed of that CL-S? A 99 TL 3.2 with Nav cost me $31k with a top speed of 147 mph.

  • Even though its a FWD car it is very capable and nearly edged out a comparable RWD BMW 330i in a few tests. I agree, the next CL should be more sport oriented but 370Z competition is a bit too sporty for Acura. Acura needs something along the lines of a 335i/G37 coupe with 4 seats and luxury features. Ive heard of another coupe in the works but look for it to be FWD based with the awesome SH-awd system. Should be a great handler as the TL SH-awd 6MT put the smack down on many different cars.

  • To sporty for Acura? Does the NSX & S-2000 ring a bell? I worked for Acura/Honda years ago, because of the recession, they have put a lot of projects on hold, or canceled them all together. They were designing diesels engines as an option for people who wanted higher mpg and they were making a new NSX with a V-10. They were almost done before the recession stopped the projects. In this new world, you have to keep everything close to the vest, because nobody is buying anything anymore.

  • NSX and S2000 are HONDA cars, so I'm not sure where you are taking this argument?. The best "true" Acura was the Integra Type-R. In ALMS racing the (Realtime Racing) Type-Rs were competitive with the 3 series BMWs - proving that "handling" could be achieved regardless of wrong-wheel-drive.

  • Aw... poor boy.

  • @psybervw, as a Honda enthusiast myself I agree....to a point. However the ITR and TSX's are fairly light so handling wasn't compromised in those applications. However, when more weight is added or a larger car is considered those compromises surface fairly quickly and any and all handling advantages quickly go to the RWD vehicle.

  • So you were able to "out-testosterone" an old man in an Audi A8? Wow man, you're really doing your part to bring respect to the "Honda Fly-By" - lol!!!

  • Aw... little boy is mad

  • Sorry, I forgot the ZDX, which is AWD also.

  • Totally different cars, with different audiences. Besides, M3 Convertibles are for poseurs - a real driver would take the coupe! :)

  • Yea, I realize that the cars were created for two different markets, but its just a personal opinion.

Actually, I don't even know why I used the M3 convertible in my argument, my bad.

  • The rs is amazing car!!

  • 0:55: this TT is shaking his titties!

  • dude show some things u can do with a 4wd on ice, sand, gravel, snow and stop talking all the time

  • Even in Lamborghini brand a Countach or a Miura will always remain uniques and more desireable than any other newer Lamborghini. You have to see a Top Gear episode were the older supercars beat the new ones. You got to read Evo's May or June issues about old vs news and you will be amazed. You don't need to be a classics collector to prefere the Quattro over the RS... you got to be what we call it...oh yeah... a connaisseur!!!

  • C'est très impressionnant

  • Oh please. Sure the Quattro is iconic, but which would you really, really have deep down inside? Times move on and unless your a classics collector you'll take the TTRS every time. If it's not the greatest TT as you suggest, what exactly is? The new TT shape was widely applauded by the industry and the public alike, so the top of the range version can only be something very special indeed. The TTRS deserves better than this.

  • Why assuming immediately that people would or should have the RS? Even Autocar (a magazine that I respect so much) says that the Quattro has the best steering of all Audi. I have driven the Quattro for 6 years and it was absolutley delicious. I drove a friends Audi TT S and I thought it was a very good car. But not only the Quattro will always remain iconic, but it will remain a unique Audi. Even in other brands, we saw many oldies better than new ones: Ex: Testarossa > than any new Ferrari

  • audi quattro...a rally's legend

  • 5 cylinder engine? Lol... Where got that idea Audi from? Lottery? But is is more beautiful than old one

  • Well there are V-10 engines, which are just two rows of 5-cylinders. I don't see anything too weird about it.

  • 5 cylinders has been around for a long time, volvo t5,fiat coupe 20valve,ford focus st. A really incredible sound too.

  • Very stupid comparison, those cars have absolutely nothing in common. One is using "true" quattro system, torsen mechanical differential...another one is using haldex, 4wd developed by swedish engineers which is also used in Volvo, Saab and many other cars.

If you want Audi Quattro...buy one with longitudinal engine so you get true quattro system. Audi really screwed up it's "quattro" brand by mixing haldex and torsen.

  • I have driven that heritage fleet quattro, such a dissapointment, don't meet your heros and all that...

  • It's a lot of blah blah and not really a support of the pictures the comment..

This is not the way to do it

  • so true, i love my Volvo v70's 5 cylinder sound.

  • The Quattro S1 E2 :-) That one even LOOKS scary! In the coolest way possible.Group B,we miss you:-(

  • So really the comparison you've made was... There is no cmparison! Dumb

  • its an "inline 5"

  • its not in v formation to shutup idiot

  • The straight 5.

Flat and V engines need paired cylinders.

  • the crank arms for each cylinder aren't spaced 180 degrees apart like a 4 cylinder. You can run any number of cylinders, as long as you work out the crank position and timing.

  • tne rear wing looks incredibly ugly, it ruined the look of the car

  • god, I love autocar

  • You can get it with the spoiler which comes and goes with you speed.

  • i beg you to do a vauxhall VXR againsts the original Cavalier GSI2000 !

  • Yes please. +1.

  • like the car hate the spoiler

  • the new TT RS is beautiful (Y)

  • AHHH I want a TTRS! :(

  • sucks that we cannot get this car in the us.

  • FAIL. S5 Quattro is the descendant of Audi Quattro, not the TT.

  • Yes, the S5 was the true new coupe of Audi

  • Fail again.. The TT got a 5 sylinder

  • Who cares about cylinders? There are Audi A3 versions that have 6 cylinders like some versions of Audi A8, yet nobody would call A8 an ancestor of A3. Audi Quattro was based on the same platform as Audi 80, just like Audi S5 Quattro is based on the same platform as Audi A4 (Audi A4 replaced the Audi 80 series). This means that S5 Quattro and the original Quattro are in the same class and S5 is the descendant of the Quattro. TT used to be based on the golf and is not in the same class.

  • Anyhow, the TT is the first audi in a long time with the wanted 5 cylinder.. So it is probably a big deal for the Audi fans.. But you're right.. It should have been launched in a S5.

  • I love both cars.

    The new TT looks great!

  • AUDI QUATRO FTW!!!

  • I love the metallic roar of five cylinder engines.... The volvo T5 used in the ford focus RS is an excellent engine as well, its power delivery is so versatile.

  • nice

  • nice

  • I ask you, which Audi TT version is better than the RS?

  • i love cars that produce more than 100bhp/litre

  • i'll take 1 of each !

  • 2 gr8 motors
