I can get an old metal rack that has a 12X12X14' I Beam as a base. It has each end a thick/big support upright. I can get 20' material for tracks. I can get a treaded rod to track the router. This material is available for next to nothing. I would need to get a free spinning pointer end and an arbor for the opposite end. I have round stock that I could run thru pillow blocks. Thanks, Dirt
I have the resorces in used steel heavy enough to make a lathe for large logs. I want to build a log home from local cedar. I can get large diameter to 8-10 feet. The mass of the steel would be sufficeint to carry the stress and weight. Need info on the ends , router mount , motor mount and router bracket. Thanks
@65dirt ME too,Ican't make out how it's mounted and wound along,I'm getting on now and the hands are not as strong as they were, now looking to wind just like that, there are some realy clever blokes about ,post any hints you can please. MAC.
@65dirt This lathe can be made to accommodate any size log simply by making the guide track longer. What size diameter logs are you planning on turning? I can try to walk you thru it.
Poor router lol
