This explaination starts out honest, this is a Pepper ghost dislay, it is not 3D there is nothing 3-dimensional about the images, the person on the stage standing next to the 2D projected image cannot even see them. but then the word holographic is seeded in by the presenter and the everyone gets mislead again. Musion of London makes mylar 50/50 screens, these can be stretched across a large area and by tipping them at a 45 degree angle you reflect in to the person's line of view a 2D image..

The illusion (since it's psychological) only works if the BACKGROUND is real life. If, for example, a smaller version was made to fit inside a CRT monitor case it would look just like, well, a flat low-depth image suspended in a monitor "box".
