@139Sector139 Superman's powers come from the Sun. After being gassed, the aliens blocked out the sun, which made Superman powerless. It's only after Batman reversed the ion charge that allowed the sunlight through and at 04:54 you can see Superman getting his powers back.

@0424ivan Batman's not EXACTLY the leader of YJ, more like the supervisor. He gives missions, he sends other members of the JL to train them, and gives them need-to-know information. That's all he ever does, aside from scolding them.

As for him being the leader of JL, I don't think it's such a great idea. The important thing about being a leader is to be compassionate, and that's not really Batman's skill. Like he already said before, "I'm not really a people-person."

Another stupid superhero story that only has a story because the supes don't use their powers! They could have easilyy trashed the first tripod as this last episode shows - GL could have just blasted it. Supes could have heat-visioned his way out. The Martian Manhunter could have phased into the place, poisoned the source, and phased out. Heck, they could have just smashed their way in from the top! Kinda fortunate that the baddies imprisoned them not in the dungeons but in the control centre!

@DCSimian, the more likely conclusion is that it wouldn't benefit them to use it at that time. They were all tied up and he hadn't enough time to free them before the aliens started firing at them. It'd simply turn them all into hostile targets instead of helpless (yet relatively safe) captives.

What's worse than that is J'onn apparently forgetting that he can phase even though it's like his only useful power.
