@emixolydian : I'm going to guess that it's a completely custom instrument. It doesn't look like a DIY job in the least. The neck just have the fret lines as a visual reference. I'm sure Dave doesn't need em' though LOL!
Hah I love how you swing man! Very Enjoyable little jam session you have here, keep it up!! Solo was very musically executed, and humerous! Well done!
why is the fretless neck short then the fretted one? and is the fretless neck a 12-string? it does not sound it, but i am counting 12 tuning pegs at the head stock!
I know it's original and all, but I would hate to listen to that for 5 minutes. Good player though. I like the idea of a fretless guitar with the frets pained on. I always assumed the frets weren't painted on and it would be hard as hell to get an idea of where you were haha
The opening sentence of your comment is the first step on the way to realising that The Beatles were the greatest band that ever existed. Take that for what you will.
don't really understand why you'd bring this up, but i do agree, Beatles are one of the best, certainly with hendrix, zepplin, JB, miles coltrane and beethoven
Haha, I just recognised your sentiment as my own would have been not so very long ago. I used to be really into jazz and I began to consider "experimental" synonymous to "good music". Now I reserve most of my admiration for the guys who can (or could) just pump out one pop hit after the other. ;)
Not to derail too much; I still enjoy jazz and I think Screaming Headless Torsos are awesome!
very outside playing, cool sound from the fretless! I liked it, and I happen to think that was pretty good 'music' for whoever posted that snide comment. thanks for posting tomo, I just listened to "right place, right time" and WOW! what a great record! I always look forward to your uploads.
He really knows very cool traditional Japanese music too. Very cool person. I really enjoy hanging out with him. Thank you so much! Some reason... "Put on your funk face" cd is selling really well right now. I will post more ... other awesome players too.
that's probably a body extender to help offset the extra weight from the double neck, to help the guitar stay balanced while you're playing with a strap.
Overrated guitar player in my opinion, but this guy can funk a lot of diverse kind of music,so make him bigger.

What's that mode (chordmode?) he uses at the end? I think he uses it on the Blue In Green solo also.

The only reason most people don't really like this is because our minds are so wrapped around music from the western civilization

The top is not a guitar, it's an electric oud (tuning is different) but it looks like he is missing 6 strings on this video.

Awesome! I love the EP Booster for my single line solo or slap bass. Fuze was using my EP booster for his clean solo.... then the BB Plus.

Cool guitar!

@DaveForDummies He took the frets out and filled in the slots with epoxy or some sort filler, so you can still sort of see where they used to be.
