  • OMG i found this on youtube..finally..yaay..i actually have a cassette tape of this album...so cool!!!!awesome punk band i listened to soooo much when i was not an adult.

  • The words of this song are true in so many ways. The adult world is a brutal place.

  • This is still one of the best Canadian songs from the 80s. This song has some of the best - and most true - words ever written. ROCK ON!

  • where is the other video?? the better 1

  • Jagger was right? How 'bout Daltrey was right?

  • Okay, so I misspelled TODD (as in Rundgren). So much for a worthless BA in English.

  • Comment removed

  • Huh, this wasn't original video. It's a lot better but I kinda liked him singing on the street with a guitar.

  • @disgruntledgrrl I believe youtube took the video down :-/

  • I have a love/hate relationship with this song. lol

  • Like some cheese-eating high school boy ... lol!

  • who took off the better video when they were playing on the streets of Toronto!!! WE NEED IT BACK!!!!

  • where is the other version?????

  • yea wth? lol nope! yea! really? excellent

  • Adults make fruity music videos? Me thinks not.

  • @brokennarcissist lol It was from 1986. Most videos from then looked like this.

  • What happened to the original video where they were on the streets of TO? I preferred that one.

  • I can't afford any artificial joy. This song brings me back to a time that's long gone.

  • "im a donut!!!!im a donut!!!~~~~"

  • This has always been a fun song.

  • I used to think this was heavy music. laugh.

  • I'm an adult - an older one! it is overrated!

  • @Jane102248 You said it, gal! Mick Jagger was right (about growing old).

  • @Jane102248 Yep. Mick Jagger was right (about getting old).

  • Does anybody know what the dark haired chick name is?

  • @loudmusic67 I dunno, but she's dazzlin'!

  • I love to play it, but I sure don't like the racket. So true. Sad but true.

  • wow the solo is pretty weak by todays standards

  • @Taud Define 'weak' please

  • This tune has the effect of a pulse racing -- just like a top-fuel dragster as it leaves the line! WFO! High-octane, nuclear-powered, heading-for- the-wall and bustin' out for Rosie ROCK! Play it LOUD, kids!

  • I forgot The Screaming Trees (oh..., old age).

  • This band, The Smithereens, The Plimsouls -- KING TONE, BABY!

  • I ask that question everytime I key up this tune (which is a lot) MOE! Bring it all back!

  • Oh..., the HUMANITY! Here we go! Another generation of little kids becoming Rockers! WHEN will it all end?! (hopefully -- never)

  • This song is hot! What happened to this group?

  • HOLY SHIT!! I always loved this song, but could never figure out who played it. Thanks for putting this on here.

  • The chick on background vocals (and dancin') is absolutely dazzlin'! Thank you, Todd Rundgren, for putting this tune together in the studio! This tune is KING TONE! Remember The Nazz?

  • We also gotta love that The Offspring paid tribute to this song.

  • Who's the chick playing the guitar? She's interesting.

  • Moe Berg is my Music Production professor

  • @peterandthewolfs wanna hear something weird, he's my second cousin :3

  • 20 years ago I'd bone that chick guitar player...

  • Comment removed

  • um, moe berg...i think is actually an edmonton/ st. albert lad!

    much like the snfu guys

  • Without a mind full of chemicals; life itself would seem highly improbable.

  • Enjoy your time now, kids! It's hell out there! You'll see.

  • You have to grow old. You don't have to grow up.

  • To my baby girl who will be 18 tomorrow. Happy Birthday Darlin'. Have a great day, I love you. xoxoxoxoxo

  • How can this song possibly have 15 dislikes? Truth hurts?

  • Now Moe can be seen time to time on Bloor and Ossington wheeling his daughter around and he looks fabulous. such great hair.

  • I couldnt pick a "best song" the whole LOVE JUNK cd kicked ass! luckily i got to see them at RIBCO, rock island IL!!!

  • god i feel old..

  • I clearly remember squealing in delight at seeing the handbill advertising the performance of TPOH at Bogarts in Cincy, OH and then crumpling to the sidewalk on short Vine upon discovering I had missed the show by two days......

  • I'm turning 18 tomorrow. Ugh, that means I'm going to be adult...

Okay, I turn 18 but in my head I stay a kid forever. =)

This is definitely the best TPOH song!!

  • My dad always 'likes' it on FB when I make my status the opening verse.

  • Am also 55. I have no intention whatsoever of growing up.

  • Thumb's up If you dont want to be an adult now!

  • @TheScruffyDawg I don't have that many thumbs :)

  • @TheScruffyDawg With Christmas 2011 just four days away NO ONE wants to be an adult! Merry Christmas 2011 to everyone (including Tod Rundgren -- who produced this bruisin' number)!

  • megadeth's "peace sells" came out a yeart before this one. similar no??

  • @metaligata The original version of "I'm An Adult Now" came out in 86. They rerecorded it when they got signed to Chyrsalis.

  • I swear these guys were on every movie soundtrack in the 80's, or so it seemed.

  • this personifies the awesomeness of 80"s power pop/rock. its got a contageously sick groove to it

  • i got my 4 year old niece singing this song right now! lol

  • Love this stuff....I always get into bands 30 years after they were big,,,didn't see The Who live until their instrument smashing phase was long over. Lot of Eddie Cochran in Moe's stuff. Interesting stuff on Q107 on Tod Rundgren this week (June 11, 2011) Todd produced this "killer" album!!!

  • Always loved this. It holds up very well amongst like minded efforts within the genre.

  • It's weird how a ton of bands ripped TPOH off. One big obvious notice is the offspring, except that the offsrpings singer sings like a girl and TPOH singer sings like a man and writes hillariously cool and clever lyrics. Not too mention this party anthem.

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork

offspring and these guys are completely different. It would be like comparing jass to justin beiber.

  • @CloudMeetsSky eh no, you're just a GEN-Y retard so you can't see the similarities. the only original act here is tpoh. the offspring just rips off their guitars like they ripped off tsol's.

offsprings singer sounds like a girl.

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork

No, you are just a music elitist.

  • @CloudMeetsSky no i just have refined tastes. I like a lot of new bands too.

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork

Refined is just a fancy way of saying closed minded.

  • @CloudMeetsSky

    re·fined [ri-fahynd] Show IPA

  • it's my 20'th birthday today. i had to listen to this song ahah

  • is this werid al yankovic?

  • Moe Burg is fucking awesome.

  • They would have been huge if the singer didn't look like a serial killer.

  • @antistar1000 That was the 80's fashion.

  • Kris Abbott (guitar) and Dee McNeil just released an album entitled "Still Here Inside"..

  • Not as bad as friday

  • 4 stars video

  • High on my list of worst songs I've ever heard.

  • This song rocks.

  • I heard this song in a porno

  • after all these years..this song still kick ass.....Hard to believe though i fit this song nowadays..

  • I miss MTV videos!

  • I used to be an adult.

It didn't work out; I'm givin' up on it.

  • hey you canadian assholes, i'm one of you, teenage head, martha and the muffins, where did it go ? i'm 60 fucking yrs. old fuck 'm all and punk on michael from paris ontario

  • I saw this band and stood right in front of the speakers...my ears rang for hours! All of their songs were great. Kick ass rock n roll!

  • im a montrealer ,but born and raised in toronto .And tpoh is one my gang love the tunes and the girls in it.Do it again in 2012.you have the fallowing us it.

  • hahhahahahahah this song is by far the worst song i have ever heard

  • @IAmTheDawn Really? Well, if you wanna hear a whole bunch of worse songs, check out ANYTHING by Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Whitney Houston or Lee Hyori.

  • @caseyspaos oh dont worry this ones up there with all of those as well

  • Geez Louise!!! That gal in the black pant suit is sexy! :)

  • LOL....I used to eat lunch with this guy at Paul Kane High School in the mid- '70s. He doesn't look a whole lot different now than he did way back then.

  • I like the original video better. This one is too polished for me. Sounds like Moe did a retake on the vocals for this version too.

Is that the Bride of Chucky on rhythm guitar at 2:10 ?

  • Moe Burg and Kim Mitchell...Canada's Two Most Underrated Guitarists...

  • the song is great but the vid is desturbing.

  • I can't take too much LOUD MUSIC, I mean I like to play but I sure don't like the racket!

  • well I'm 22 and my life is just starting ! <3 so I cant say this song is for EVERYONE! :D

  • im 17 my life is awesome. i can get any girl i want. i can do anything i want basically i can skate. how many of you old guys can say u can still skateboard

  • @nickthecomedian enjoy it motherfucker :D it's all gonna come to a crashing stop soon.... lmfao

oh, and i can still board..... at 51

    take that..... punk :p

  • @nickthecomedian Well, judging by this comment, I can see why you are called Nick the Comedian!

  • the original vid shot on Queen St. in beautiful Toronto was much better...with the Amabile sisters on backing vox

  • @repelghosts Can't disagree with your comment about "I'm an Adult Now", but the audio is much more clear on this post. Saw Moe do this live on Murray Mclauchlans' radio show "Swinging on a Star". It was way cool.

    Cheers! :)

  • What are the female background singers singing? I can't quite decipher it. Help me?

  • @evolnieveilebi I hear, just 'Ooooo' on all the chorus' *except* on the 2 chorus' with the 'My head, my libido' lyric.

On those 2 (at the front and end of the song), the girls are adding 'My head n' libido' to back him up

I like think Moe was trying to side-reference Kundalini ;)

  • Moe is my teacher

  • theses mothafuckas are sick

  • ...I love this song but...

Am I the only one that has enjoyed my "adult" years much more then my teen years? Seems to be a lot of "OH LIFE WAS BETTER WHEN I WAS YOUNGER." I dunno man, I prefer women to girls any day, heh.

  • @deejrandom Indeed. I've liked ALL the ages I've been, so comments like "things were so much better in [pick your favorite time period]" seem kind of silly. I SUPPOSE "life was better" for specific people when they were teenagers (i.e. before they went bald or got fat), but not for me...

  • Wait till hit 40 you know life is half over

  • Man this band was just great live, huge energy and loud as fark. This album should have sold a gazillion copies.

  • I forgot about this second video for the song.

  • great song

  • No more 'boy meets girl, boy loses girl, more like man tries to understand what the hell went wrong'!!!!!!!! Some of the best lyrics ever!!!!!

  • I wonder...How many shot of Jack can I handle before this song ends?

  • Really good video and song. interesting unique, great music, just needed a change 2 minutes into the song, needs a bridge. Never heard of the band, like the chicks (are they really playing?). this is jsut he kind of art youtube was made for

  • Listening to Blink 182 on my daughter's ipod made me think of this song in particular. I still love this and now as a "adult" with a teenage daughter it really resonates.

  • i have the 12inch single of this song if anyone would like to know !

  • The singer for this band is my Music Production teacher at Fanshawe College!

  • At the age of 35 my sex drive is a bit less, but Im more than happy cuz I dont want to fuck holes all day.

    .

  • @jjpeterson1

Well that IS good to know, and we wish you the best from your friends at the Internet

    Great Song though, right?

  • This reminds me, I forgot to take a Celebrex today,.

  • One of the greatest songs ever!!! True.

  • Saw this band in Omaha in the 80's. I loved them and was surprised they did not have any other hits.

  • Now this is much better! WTF did I just watch? Take one? 3... 2... 1... Crank it UP!

  • 0:23 Axel Rose is that you? I loved these guys when I was younger. I didn't realize how funny they looked at the time though. God help us when the 90's come back in style.

  • ITs slowley coming back will be nice when it does

  • The original video was better than this. Some jerk at the record company thought this was brillant and charged back all the money it cost back to the band....but that's what happens when you're an adult now.

  • Oh, the horrid, horrid truth.

  • Well, since we're all giving out our ages, I'm 55 and have thought this song is as tough-as-nails since hearing it in the late 80's. And I still sizzle when I hear that first long chord at the very beginning of the guitar solo. The entire album that went with this song was frickkin' great, imo. Looking back, I think that this band didn't have the advantage of "coming out" in the right time frame. Music was going thru a sick change beginning in the late 80's. Still is, for that matter.

  • @naderchaser glad they came out

  • @naderchaser Right there with you. The hell of it is I was in my late 20s when this came out and thought I was an adult THEN. Boy, was I ever wrong!

  • Produced by Todd Rungren great track and just as good live.

  • I totally felt this song when it first came out. I was 21 at the time; it still feels pretty good now that I'm twice that age. :)

  • Moe Burg reviews books for amazon now.

  • i always thought he said "im unna go now"

  • hawkwind man!

  • ""yo'all Thy slutz, ..x..))|

  • Just an FYI, the original music video to this is so much better.

  • hey what are you trying to say about cheese ass hole?

  • I turn 47 today [5/13/10], and the song is truer than ever.

Though that line about "can't seem to get it up" reminds me that this song came out a few years before Viagra and other such drugs were released. :P

  • This song rules. But it sounds like he is singing "I'm on the dole now".

  • "Young people they can get away with murder!" True.

  • its downhill after 18, 21 35, 40 and 50 dude, if your a musician you can still get laid though!

  • he got it right w/ this song!!!!!!

  • "Noise, but I can't hear anything,

    Just guitars screaming, screaming, screaming.

Some guy screaming in a leather jacket!!"

For my buddy Jimmy Norton from the "UpTown Circus"

  • "i can sleep in anytime that i want but there's not many days that i do"

  • What does the sign say?

  • Produced by Todd Rundgren!!

  • thekoolestguyaaa, you're just suffering from cognitive stupidity and lack the proper mental acuity to understand. you are considered an adult at 18 and pay for the crimes of adults once you turn that age. you also can go to war. buy some more neurons, loser.

  • maybe you should get some friends, retard.

  • I just realized that The Offspring kinda lifted this riff!!

Listen again! It's the intro to TPOH's IAAN used as the intro to an Offspring song that I can't name!!

  • the song you're talking about is the offsprings, gotta get away and YOU ARE RIGHT!

    moe should sue. lol

  • the offspring also stole the drum part of that song from a TSOL song called, "i'm tired". but he and jack from tsol are friends I guess so jack let it go.

  • @thekoolestguyaaa The first two years after you finish highschool are very tough, especially if you and your friends go your seperate ways, your girlfriend dumps you, you keep working shit jobs, and your parents are perpetually poor. Also, you have no one to support you in any way. But once you enroll in college to work in a field you love, find another girlfriend, get a credit card and a drivers liscence, its all uphill from there dude! Thats my after school story, by the way. Good luck!

  • yeah I started working after HS also and went to college in my late 20s when most of my buddies went after HS but I still had a good time most of my life and managed to get by even though I dont have a Dl now lol i think Highschool isnt as bad as most teens make it sound it doesnt get easier afterwards thats for sure

  • you're an adult when you turn 18, dumb fuck

  • I call my mom/dad up and invite them. Im adult now. got the proplems of an adult now......

  • "Man tries to understand what the hell went wrong"LOLLL. This song has so much more meaning now that I'm 30!

  • This song is soooooo true! It's all downhill after 21!

    .........Unless you're rich.

  • @ModelJames13 I could have not said it better myself

  • great lyriks!! if you are 46 like me

  • Benzo the bozo and his alt handles strike again. aka particlefag

  • When did this song come out?

  • 1988.

  • btw I don't know anyone who likes all that weak nu-metal fuckcrap. it all sounds the same.

if I want extreme i'll blast some ministry or hardcore 80s punk like tsol, agent orange, the vandals, d.i. etc. al that stuff fucking houses all the numetal faggot shit.

    case closed

  • yes, you're the only one who's allowed to have an opinion and everyone else is an idiot.

  • Sounds about right. In all seriousness, you seem to be on the same sub tier level as that mental midget benzo.

  • lol poor little fella!

carry on with your retarded rage.

  • LOL. let us know when you graduate jr college, delusional retard.

btw you're the one with the 2 incher. hahahaha

    case closed

  • BAHAHAH!

that's the best you can do?

"I know you are but what am i?"

like i said, poor little fella.

  • man i m an adult

  • congratulations.

  • dude, i'm so fuckin sick of these faggot butt rocker and emo/screamo retards coming onto these kill late 80s videos.

i wish they just fucking kill themselves in a bus ride like that stupid hippie from metallica did.

    case closed

  • @real80smusic That stupid hippie from Metallica just so happens to be one of the best bassists to ever grace Metal. His death was tragic and you are an ignorant prick for shit talking Cliff Burton. Good job pick on a dead guy. The REAL music of the 80s was Thrash Metal. It was THE most popular music in the world in 1984 and you go and soil one of the founding fathers of Thrash? Are you retarded? Go ahead and just start making fun of Randy Rhoads now, dig the hole a little deeper dip shit.
