Actually, the capitalist economy isn't what failed. It was the hybrid capitalist/socialist economy that our government has created. It was instances where the government hijacked the free market that largely lead us to where we are today. Every country that has tried socialism so far has collapsed, and as it turns out a hybrid isn't sustainable either.
