Why is there not a real audio/video recording of this available? This whole concert should have been produced on DVD. Who would not want to watch a video of SRV's last concert performance?
Stunning. My wife and I were married the day before Stevie died. In the pool next morning, we heard there was a copter scheduled to take Clapton to airport, but Stevie seemed to need the ride more urgently. When copter went down, the news was broadcasting Vaughn's death. So horribly sad to recall his death as part of wedding. One of the best "guitars-men" ever.
This recording was from THAT last concert he ever gave, the day after our wedding. Hurts.

@fofoballer Really? If so, then where are the moving images of that concert? After all, this site is called "YouTube" and not "YouRadio" or "YouPowerPoint".
@THausherr just because one guy doesn't have a video doesn't mean there weren't cameras invented. and there no rule book saying g there has to be moving images for it to be on YouTube.
@fofoballer Maybe its time to make such a rule. Or to move this non-Video to a new site, named "YouRadio" or "YouPowerPoint" or "YourSlideShow" or "YouSoundwithStills".
WHAT A KILLER JAM, the best of the best. Pickin their hearts out. If it gets better that this please turn me on to it. I only saw SRV one time. It was in Berkley Ca. and a great show, he played into the California night.
Very fitting that his last jam was sharing the stage with friends, doin a sing along with the crowd. Very cool indeed. An example we should follow, just cuz were on stage jammin our asses off, doesnt mean its all about us.
What a shame that this GREAT man and musician was taken from us way before his time... Just makes me sick to my stomach to think of what the blues would be like today if SRV was still alive today....
stevie stood out as if he knew he was going winked at the crownd and staye don stage longer than anyone else man i think about stevie every day and my heart drops wishing we could still grace ourselves with seing him live i was to young before he passrd but i understand what a great thing is gone now
@PilotDoofy Nah he was still massive while he was alive, although true that he probably wasn't as big as say in the 70's or 80's after his death but yeah......
I would have liked to seen SRV, BB King, Freddie King, Albert King, Albert Colllins, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Otis Rush, Luther Allison and Jimmy Vaughan ON THE SAME STAGE
Wisconson....SRV was on his way to Chicago to meet his Girl at Buddy Guy's club......There was some heliocopters backstage for the bands and Eric Clapton told SRV to take his Helio so he could get back to Chicago to be with his love.....Unfortunatley that Helio crashed into the side of a Mountain killing not only SRV but several people of EC's entourage...Sad Day in RnR history......God Bless Them All....
I was at SRVs last show, still have my ticketstub. I can assure you Buddy Guy definitely played that night at Alpine Valley and that this certainly sounds like the finale from that show. I remember distinclty Sweet Home Chicago - Stevie's last song ever. Think they were heading to play a set at Buddy's club. Fog was so dense walking back to our car after the show you could barely see. Copters landed offstage at the end of the show to pick them up. Saw them take off, but never heard any crash
Saw him twice, back to back, once in Eugene, Oregon with Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt, Curtis Salgado , SRV jammed a very long set,- then next night in Portland...SRV jumped off the stage after mass audience revolt regarding seating policy..did an Albert Collins type walk across the front of the floor, and generally raised hell...was right in front of me, jamming like a demon
His dad died on August 27th from parkinson's disease. He died on August 27th also. Something to think about. Keep playing that guitar SRV We all love you!!!
I can't believe it's nearly twenty years since my hero died. SRV was the greatest in my eyes (and ears!) - sadly missed, but never, ever forgotten. Big love and thank you for making my spine tingle every time xx
@solinjar theres a song called 'look over yonders wall'. type it in to youtube. roy rogers does a good cover. this is a version of robert johnsons "sweet home chicago", no doubt about that
@pjrowan0 sorry, just heard the beginning,it s a medley obviously, bad sound quality unfortunatelly.Great stuff anyway and did you know that Sweet home Chicago melody RJ stole from one quite famous song at that time?
My recollection was they played August 24, 25 and 26. I saw Saturday show, August 25.
Great show! Great bill. The bill was Robert Cray, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble, and Eric Clapton.
Cost me $55.00 a ticket plus a surcharge from Tickemaster (which I don't recall the cost). That was a lot of money for a concert in 1990. I *think* the minimum ticket purchase was four tickets.
@ayoubinov1 no it is not.. i have the concert you are talking about thats not this..if you cant tell thats his guitar why are you even watching this video
Jimmie said it best, "I will get better, but I will never forget." I lost my mother when I was 18, and I am 62. I still miss my mom, only it doesn't hurt like it used to. RIP SRV
@mastercallec Infinitely more important than his immense musical talent was the fact that Stevie was a kind and generous human being that tried to treat all people fairly. My bet is that God said: "Come on in son, and bring that beat up guitar with you".
@ckfootballman I have a bootleg copy of SRV's last performance, I woulodn't take anything for it. I found it a few weeks ago and have been watching it daily,

Miss you Stevie! It's the time... 19 years ago you left us, but you will live in our hearts forever. I love you. Thank you for all the love you passed our way...
SRV is a cut above all the rest apart from maybe hendrix, who i believe is in the same class. the difference between SRV and clapton is SRV stuck to the blues, clapton strayed to makin money through ballads like wonderful tonight
wish this was a video but it's great, i kept watching crossroads with all these guys but SRV on here and i kept thinking how he would've ripped up the stage if he had been able to be there
5:00-5:05 what a huge ass bend from Stevie! He has another one in part 2 also. What a way to go, playing like no one else will and has ever ever been able too!
I would have to respectfully disagree with you on that, Albert king and even Jimi Hendrix had similar bends in there songs. But Stevie undoubteldy had a highly distinctive tone and style, and his soulful, passionate playing is sorely missed, peace .
Why is there not a real audio/video recording of this available? This whole concert should have been produced on DVD. Who would not want to watch a video of SRV's last concert performance?

SRV is a cut above all the rest apart from maybe hendrix, who i believe is in the same class. the difference between SRV and clapton is SRV stuck to the blues, clapton strayed to makin money through ballads like wonderful tonight

wish this was a video but it's great, i kept watching crossroads with all these guys but SRV on here and i kept thinking how he would've ripped up the stage if he had been able to be there

5:00-5:05 what a huge ass bend from Stevie! He has another one in part 2 also. What a way to go, playing like no one else will and has ever ever been able too!
csi2448 2 years ago
Ahm, agreed except thatthat was a classic Albert king lick/technique there, so it had been done before!
bnapoleonc123 2 years ago
Yeah I know that Stevie learned it from Albert King. And yeah, he was one hell of a bender. But no one could bend like Stevie
csi2448 2 years ago
I would have to respectfully disagree with you on that, Albert king and even Jimi Hendrix had similar bends in there songs. But Stevie undoubteldy had a highly distinctive tone and style, and his soulful, passionate playing is sorely missed, peace .

I guess we'll agree to disagree. But either way, all three of them are sorely missed!
csi2448 2 years ago
Absolutely they are, three of the greatest players of all time!

We can finally agree on something!
