You really should turn depth of field off for this. I realize you're trying to make it cinematic, but it's only taking away. The Bloom you have is enough
@descendant0fdragons Might have taken a couple months. At first I was only working on it a little. Then I went into a little crunch time, where I was working on it probably at least a couple hours a day for the most part. If I were to do it again, I could probably do it a lot faster, but that's the nature of the beast. Learn as you go, and improce on your work pipeline. :)
@goncharable I'm sure I could do that. It would just take some learning. That, and I would have to make a bird, animate it, and learn how to make that work in UDK. Haha. A bit more work than what it might be worth for this. ;) I did originally want there to be birds in the level though. Haha.
@RiddlazC Yes, success! ;) Haha. Thanks! The water took quite a bit of tweaking to get it to look just the way I wanted it to. And by quite a bit, I mean a few hours. Haha.
Wow! That looks great, only criticism I have was that the lighting was a little weird while I loved the light streaming going on through leaves the scene seemed.... dark? I don't know just off a little. Still really great though
@Camy415 I know what you mean actually. For some reason in my level UDK would try to compensate for all the shadows from the trees. Depending which way you are looking, either towards the sun, it would look a lot darker. When you look away it gets a lot brighter all the sudden. Not really sure why it does that...
Thanks for the input though! Glad you like it! Gonna post a new vid soon of a character I've been working on lately. :)
Its easy to import I will tell you off the top of my head seeing how you cannot. Export your file from 3dmax or maya either as an ASE, FBX, Or OBJ, OBJ is not recommended though in real life studios their are reasons why. Than go to your generic browser (UT3) or Content Browser (UDK) import, than find your file import it into the package that you want when the package screen comes up. Make sure your static meshes are editable Meshes though in 3dmax before exporting. DUH GUYS COME ON.
@MrScoob3 Just used 3DS Max. Export the models as an .OBJ file type. Going to try and learn Maya soon though. :) But it's real easy importing it all. Just go to the content browser in UDK, and select something like "import" under >file I think. Kinda hard to tell you exactly without looking at it. Haha.
@THgoll So the sails and the actual windmill itself are seperate meshes? and did you animate it with kismet? I'm not so good with modeling, so i probably couldn't make it anyways. Put i could certainly texture it like that.
@Valinorzx That's right. They are both seperate and I animated it in Kismet. Modeling the sails was really easy though. Its just a cylinder in the middle with four rectangles, then curving those. Then I made a plane and shaped it to fit as a sail. Just give it a try. Its not so hard. Just need some problem solving skills. :)
@Valinorzx Wasn't all too hard. Just made the main model (the structure) along with the sails in 3DS Max, but made the sails as a separate model. I then textured them, imported in, and placed the models. I then animated the sails so that they rotate infinitely. There's also a transitive texture in the material for the sail so that it looks kinda like light is passing through it. Glad you like it! :)
I'm seeing a lot of lod pop in

@goncharable True, but I would want to try and make all the content myself. It would be cool for sure though. :)

Too much bloom and blur, either that or the res, cannot really tell anything apart, you can but only by it's color.

@RPGking001 Looking at it now, I totally agree with you. But I'm lazy and don't feel like goingback and fiddling with old work. ;)

how did you combine all your pics to make into vid? what program did you use?
iciiciban 9 months ago
@iciiciban I used this program called Fraps. It is a screen capture recording program. It costs a little bit, but well worth it.

@welge8 Ummm... I already told them how to import into UDK/UT3. A lot of people are still learning the basics. Cut them some slack.

Great! My only complaint is that for the video flyby, the depth of field's visibilty range was far too small
