You're on the wrong side asking him to pick up feet. You need lessons on handling babies. Seriously, if this was MY horse & I caught you in his stall............ we'd have some issues.
Just a head's up, but on the track, most grooms pick up all four hooves for cleaning from one side. And JJ is from the track. Hence the same side foot lift. So considering that, it's highly doubtful that she needs lessons. In all honesty, it's not as easy as it looks. Give it a shot, you'll see. Take a bit of horsemanship to get a horse to pick up on the other side. ;)
So nice, a pitty the vid breaks off. Don´t move your hand so fast to the head until he´s used to it. Go on caring for him, he deserves it and I think it will be a thankful job. Greets!
Thanks... hes quite used to being touched about the head - I want him to get used to me moving at normal speed at this point. (plus trying to keep him from eating my hair!)
You really don't? I woudn't have guessed from your channel...
Well, I guess I don't know if he's going to bite me... he was kind of nibbling me half the time, but he could have bitten me if he wanted to, I suppose.
Well, I love the Kentucky Derby and the Triple Crown Races. I like animals and have become very interested in horses. The background picture is of Yankee Bravo (winner of the California Derby and ran in the 2008 Preakness Stakes) the blonde is excercise rider Amelia Harris - I thought this was a great photo and also that the people who get up very early every day to work out the horses should be given some credit.
Geez. When I said "I don't know that much anout horses", I was refering to my question about horses, biting people. I have been reading up on Dynaformer (1 of the top sires in the US and the sire of Barbaro, Nicanor and Lentenor). Dynaformer has a mean streak and has not been riden in years for exercise because the last person who tried to put a bit in his mouth had a finger bitten off (Ouch!) Maybe all you experts know how often ornery horses injure people by biting them.
I remember when my baby was a baby. I miss those days and then again I don't. I was an over protective Mom. Always worried. Glad to see your giving this very cute guy the attention he needs...
I actually did do a lot of work on his ears, too, but the dumb camera cut off midway through. He's very good with it all for a little guy whose owner practically NEVER touches him, as far as I can tell. Farrier said he was a beast for his first trim, so I thought I'd give him a little talking to...
See Jj told ya it'd be the first vid I looked at when i got back... Love your work any way.

Real nice vid. I don't know that much about horses, but how do you know when you bend over to work his leg, he won't try to bite you?

Dont know how often, but I know you've got to be on your toes and not let yourself get bitten, cause they sure will do it if you let them!

Wahhhh! She deleted my comment!
Okay, here it is again...
Nice to see Jj in a horsey movie. YAY!
Now the little guy is wondering... "WTF is this humans fixation on my feet and legs? Don't you know those are MY feeties!" LOL!
Try to scratch his ears for me too, Jj.
Don't you just LOVE the baby horses?
:~)

Well play with him lots Jj. He's very curious and you'll be doing him and his owner a huge favor.
Do it for the little colt. Shame on the owner for not playing with the little guy.
