The effect is perfect for the endlevel (the red foreground things).
Sorry, I worded it wrong: There is parallax scrolling, but the main layer of game objects doesn't scroll when the player ship moves, meaning they seem to move with the player because of the parallax. As if the entire level was moving, instead of just the player ship; the main layer is fixed and that causes a weird parallax effect.
The parallax scrolling is "wrong", which makes foreground items look backwards.
Poor ratios chosen for the parallax layers.
