Sadly, the dead can't really say what they think about such romantic notions which encourage the next amnesiac generation to go off to war. Not only do the dead have no way to make their views known at Remembrance Day ceremonies, but those who were disfigured and/or crippled in action are often denied a place for fear of "giving war a bad name". Renaming November 11th Veterans' Day in 1954 in the USA , deliberately shifted the focus away from remembering the dead to celebrating the survivors.
