The point of this, as well as the island projects is to make Dubai a tourist hot spot in the 21st century, WHEN and not IF the oil runs out, and if only America had thought of something similar (Not a theme park, but a backup conecpt) before we started exporting all of our jobs to cheap foreign labor maybe we would have the financial security that Dubai will? And by the way, The U.A.E. is not going to fund relief efforts halfway across the world when they already help refugees in the middle east

by the way, the person that is building dubai owns half of the worlds oil. the point of dubai is to attract tourism, and to be the most luxurious place to live in the world. the reason behind this is that when oil is gone, and or not to be of use anymore, then he will need to make money from another source, VACATIONING, TOURISM, AND RESIDENTS. its all strategy. not what your thinking of. when your source of income is threatened, you need to think of other ways to make money. its like a 'Plan B'.

have you heard of the space elevator??? its already in the process, and will take us like 60,000 miles into space. this is possible because it will be so high up, that the centrifugal force of the planet spinning will cause it to hold tightly, and therefore not falling back down to earth. its already being built. the only problem is, they havnt come up with the technology to create the 60,000 mile long nano-tube ribbon needed for the actual 'elevator' portion. crazy!

Excluding the interior, and obviously watching this video prooves that they are going to finish it. Comparing to all other "skyscrapers" you are right! The building doesn't just sit there with a few floors higher just to beat the record, no it rapes those other towers by a FREAKING "MILE". And soon and the enevitible will happen when another tower will be constructed and planned for to be even taller. I heard of a new building that they are planning to make in Dubai, (where else, lol) that will be 3000ft or taller, but I do know that it will be way taller than the Burj Dubai.
