Trying to get rid of the hair ball , When cat do this , Owner should go outside and grab a hand full of grass and clean well well under running water ( Shake it very hard this way will get rid of all unwanted from out side ) Then hand it to him/her , I bet he will eat it right away , This will help him get rid of hairball easyer , Grass is almost like medicine to cat .
i don't know if it's the fact that I've been up all night but when I watched this I laughed myself to tears. xD I find this sound SO hilarious. I am a bad man, i know. ^^
There's this goo you can buy, it comes in a toothpaste-like tube and you just put it on their paw and they lick it off. It's oily and lets them pass the hairballs and poo them out rather than coughing them up. Works for my kitties
@Ness118 many people mistake it for hairballs. That happened to my cat, People kept saying hairballs. But it lasted for months and he had a fever. Turns out it was asthma/allergies.
Hi, my cat does this and sits up her elbows like your cat does. She has cardiomyopathy. Have you had your cat's heart checked via ultrasound or xray? I see this is quite an old video. I hope your cat is okay.
There is a shot given called "Dexamethazone" which now lasts 4-6 weeks (or longer) where NO additional pills are given. My cat gets it every year around Jan-Feb and once he gets that shot, he stops coughing within 3 days and doesn't cough the rest of the year. Be advised that every attack not only damages their lungs more and more, but also shortens their life expectancy. Good luck to all the kitties and doggies out there with this nasty condition.
my cat does this too, but not very often and when i had her to the vet, they said she was fine. her lungs sounded find and her blood came back fine, but she just started doing it again. idk what it is.
Thanks for your post; you may have just saved my kitty! He's going the vet tomorrow and now I know how to describe his symptoms. Thanks for letting me know that other cats get this, too!
I am a veternarian and it is most likely to be a Hairball.Or mucus in the throat. This is not much a serious matter but have the cat checked out and put on special meds for this.
It is feline asthma. My cat has it. He is licking and swallowing the fluids he coughs up. He probably seems fine right after it but shouldn't be left untreated
YOu may want to check him for asthma. Sometimes there are allergies to plants or chemicals that can induce this - if it is worse during certain times or when certain factors (chemical cleaning etc) then that can show the potential "triggers'. If there is no discharge from eyes and nose if coughing regularly then it is a good indicator of asthma..
My cat has something like this too. Started her on antibiotics(which she hates to take) three days ago but it seems to have gotten worse but i guess it could be the infection running its course.
sounds like my grandpa

Every cat I've ever owned has done this at least on occasion. Don't panic, people. It's nothing to worry about unless it becomes frequent or severe.

@DitDitDah hairballs and asthma and allergies two different things!

What did they do to treat the cat? What is the prognosis? What meds or advice did the vet give you for your cat?

My poor beast has been doing this for about a month... it might be spring allergies.
