The drug has to be pitched to doctors specializing in the particular field of the drug. The drugs are presented to doctors so they can analyse the product and suggest/prescribe that product to patients. They have stethoscopes because they're doctors who are most likely on a 10 minutes shift to hear about the new drugs.

Or sometimes it's more like the one who they felt sorry for or don't have on the show much.

Well the Wedge was canned because it was a horrible clip show of ammature actors playingout poorly constructed "comedic" skits.
