PLEASE GIVE PROPER CREDIT to the creator of "The Mind's Eye". Yes, Odyssey had a collection of CGI demos, but "The Mind's Eye" was a MIRAMAR production by Emmy Award winning director JAN NICKMAN who spent thousands of hours exquisitely crafting them into a double platinum selling film considered to be a milestone in the field of computer animation. With a score by JAMES REYNOLDS, "The Mind's Eye" reached #12 on Billboard's video hits chart. PLEASE GIVE PROPER CREDIT TO THE ARTISTS.
I was a kid and I remember renting this probably a dozen times as a VHS from Block Buster when I was less than 10 years old... I never understood what I was watching btu it fascinated me. Now I'm a senior environment artist at a video game studio making Xbox 360 and PS3 games... Amazing, really!
I was working in Media Services at my college when this came out and we would get LOADS of this stuff through our office; Autodesk, Lightwave demo reels. It was a great time to be into electronic media and video then - everything was new!
@AustinOnSugar Yeah, you're not alone there. Been years so it's only a vague memory for me, but perhaps there were different versions of the video released at the time.
To those that don't know....when these videos were made back in 1989-1990 it took a whole ROOMFUL of computers to produce these! Now one can do it with a desktop! People have no idea what it took to make these wayyy back then and how far we have come in computing power! When I first saw these in 1989 I was blown away not only with the visuals but the music was wonderful! I still love listening to it today!
@crazyguitarkid77 *hell, the whole thing facinated me, it might of even be the thing that jump started my immense imagination and curiosity, which lead to my cravings for knowledge, which let the the small genuiss of todayt :D (age 12, basicly handed my old teacher homework, she thought antarctica was an iceburg)
Thanks again to the uploader for preserving these artistic amazements on youtube for the benefit of the world. Beauty like these CGI shorts should not be allowed to die.
I seem to recall portions of this clip on The Mind's Eye, but with different audio - the wooden mannequins on the unicycles, especially. I also think the song was "The Box" by Orbital...but maybe I had another VHS version?
do you know why this version has the people on the stairs when the music changes instead of the hornet...i cant find the original version of the minds eye
@ILLSONTV I'm trying to draw something more complicated than the MC Escher scene: A whole city, huge in size, but parts of it are sideways. The dancing robots I love personally. Is there a CD of this?
I remember playing Warioware for the Wii and seeing these strange dancing people, which made me feel REALLY nostalgic, and I couldn't tell why! NOW I know it was because of watching this!
