  • i love your tank, im a big Frontosa fan. Great job

  • STUNNING

  • My tank has no intention of mimicking any natural habitat. As you correctly pointed out, a Tanganyikan biotope setup for Frontosa would have to be more than 15 meters deep with no plants. I believe it would also have to include huge, rather unattractive boulders, and virtually no light. For my living room, I found this neither practicable nor desirable ;-)

Regarding the current, it is setup not to be disturbing for the Frontosa, but my 2 sump pumps turn over about 3600gph (over 13000 liter).

  • this is maybe the bes aquarium i ever see (sory for my english im from Croatia) you made me think to get new aquarium . i already have Malawi tank but this is my next project . problem is that in croatia i cant get frontosa F1 . from wich country you are and how much it cost it there if they are f1!

  • Hello fmueller1!

Your tank set up is well done, but unfortunately it does not resemble a Tanganyikan biotope at all. It could be for African riverine fish species in a very quiet river section with no current. Cyphotilapia frontosa lives in deeper rocky habitats, more than 15 meters and naturally with no plants. Also your other fish species live in rocky habitats. This is a beautiful collection of Tanganyikan fish species, but this is not the biotope for them.

  • can i mix 1 or more flower horn with 2 frontosa in 55 gallons? they are same size

    reply please

  • @5000carriers Frontosa require a minimum tank length of 6'; that is a 125G tank, and should be kept in groups of at least one male and three females. For more info visit the Frontosa section of Cichlid-forum.

  • No. flower horn is extremely aggressive. It doesn't get along with anyone regardless of size.

  • @5000carriers I would rather tht you dont

  • the best tang setup ive seen, plants look amazing, do you get many or any losses to the fronts ?

  • super ,,,, the best!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I rarely leave comments, but I had to go back and say WOW.

  • I love your Burundi, bro..

  • hey! nice tank! what's good dither fish for frontonsas? mine always go to the darker spots ;(

  • @smog1130 I have the sme with my fronties, their always shy and go very dark when their stressed. If you don't have any caves I suggest you buy a shallow hiding hole that you can see them.

  • Hi, what is that freaky looking fish with a beak (2;00)

  • @Snatcholini - Altolamprologus compressiceps 'Gold Head'. They take forever until they get to this size, so that's a distinguished old gentleman you are calling 'freaky' ;-)

  • superrrrrrrrr

  • awesome

  • Piękne,Nice

  • awesome!!!

  • hey i think this is my 1000 time watching this video :) im currently housing 10 frontosa juvis that are going into their big home this week a 125... was wondering if you could tell me what plants you have in there?

  • i love your tank. the fronts are beautiful. how old are they and how many inches ? i have 2 about 4 inches and 1 about 2 inches. they live with alot of peacocks, a couple mbuna, and a couple of haps. i love them all.

  • i have 2 frontosa. 1 is around 4 inches. he breathes normally. the second is around 6 inches, he breathes fast and he opens his mouth really big. why??

    reply please

  • @3000carriers - the fish could be gasping for air. Do a water change and improve aeration, that is bring more oxygen into the tank. That's just a wild guess though. For better founded advice I need more info. You could also post on cichlid-forum.

  • What are those caves? At 2:36 far right? did you buy them or make them? I would really like a couple in my aquarium, I think they look really good

  • @ZooVideosHD - thanks for the compliment. The caves are just pieces of sandstone piled on top of each other. The material is exactly the same as the rocks I used for the entire background of the tank, but the background is siliconed to the glass, while the rocks for the cave are just loosely stacked. HTH

  • great fish !

  • one of the best tang setup i've seen. Do you not get your cyps eaten? I read they naturally prey on them in the wild.

  • I am currently setting up a tank for some Frontosa. Your tank is inspirational!!

  • how do you clean the wasted inside the rock without moving it?

  • nature tank, love it a lot

  • your tank is sweet

  • best tank i ever seen

  • lol love the julidochromis in there lol

  • How long did it take for them to grow to this size?

  • upload another video of your tank ...

  • What kind of light do you use?

  • ur tank is amazing!!!!

  • Suprised how they don't eat the smaller fish. My old group of Kitumbas went after my white comps. I had to take them out. Maybe it has something to do with raising them when they were young? My Kits were wild caught.

  • i have a blue fontosa that is arguably 2 or 3 inches when do they get the buble thing on there heads?

  • What type of sand/substrate are you using? I like the look.

  • Tropheus are missing :-(

  • awesome looking tank you have there!

  • Beautiful frontosas what kind are they

  • so gorgeous!!

  • nice.. i lovet

  • Beautiful tank setup, beautiful plants, beautiful fish. This is a truly amazing tank.

  • wow beutiful tank and do u always rearrange the tank once you doa water change? i find it rather annoying cause when i get a really nice setup, i gotta move all the rocks so i can clean out all the crap

  • How old are they?

  • i have never seen dis type of frontosa ...... its so beautifull sizes.....

  • Hello Frank, I have a cichlid pond and did liked your tanks.

I would like to keep in touch and exchange some experience.

    my email: yosartini@hotmail.com

    Regards.

  • Lake Tanganyika has my favorite cichlids, Brichardi being my favorite. Great Work my Friend!

  • Congrats mate, its one of the best set-ups I've seen for Fronts for a long time. I like the combination of the black gravel, stone and nice lush green plants. It really brings out the colour in the fish, who I must add look relaxed and stunning. Is the stone real or a fake 3d background? I have a 600 Ltr tank with 7 Fronts and looking to mimic your layout.

A big hello from the Rock of Gibraltar in Europe.

  • thank y keep those frontosa healthy i hope they will reach to full growen i breed in this nice tank best luck

  • @Mr4224salah sorry the frontosa will breed in tank and not i hahaha best luck really nice tank and nice fishes

  • how much price of 1 of these frontosa

  • I paid $4 for them, but they were only 1/2" long (about 1cm) when I bought them :-)

  • @Mr4224salah How old are they? :)

  • Comment removed

  • @Mr4224salah In Australia (where I am), the cheapest I have seen are 1 inch frontosa at 3 for $60 AU and adults are around $180 AU :(

  • fmueller1 thank you for sharing....i've got 10 juv burundi..3 inches ..its my first experience with fronts..i really love this fish..even more when i watch this video..can,t resist..done it countless time...impressive video..thanks again!

  • fmueller1 you are legend to me I visit your site so many times, but i didn't know you have some videos in here.

    your tank is EPIC

  • hey mate, beautiful fronnies. one question, would they breed with dolphins in the tank? i know its better to have them by themselves but would they still breed if you had dolphins? i have 4 large 6 bars and 6 smaller dolphins

  • pretty sweet man >> i have a question how old are those fronts ?????

  • I love the plants they give great depth

  • amazing tank.......love it love it......

  • bro u need to vacum your sand, too much dirts on it, will make amonia high

  • Ammonia reads zero in this tank at all times. Visit fmueller.com for details how this is achieved despite the debris, which is actually important to sustain the life plants. The debris is for some reason more obvious in the video than when seeing the tank life. But of course I can't deny it's there ;-)

  • @fmueller1 the debris is caused by alot of the moss that you have in your tank it acts as a sediment trap, theres not much you can do about that, luckily as you have such a huge volume of water it should have little affect on your ammonia levels. awesome tank by the way. i've only got a crappy little 50gal at the moment. just out of curiosity what are the dimensions of your tank?

  • r they burundi? i have one large female looks same

  • cool setup, is tht live plants?

  • Amazing tank!

  • hello,

why are the big fish had so big head? are they sick or something?

    hihi, jocking!

  • Best Tanganyikan tank I have seen yet.

  • Awesome Aquarium!!!

  • now THAT is an aquarium!

  • Echo peta7979!!! Please explain background/aquascape.

  • Thanks for your interest! Details about this tank are on my site fmueller.com; eg the background is made from real rock that is siliconed to the backwall of the tank, and I describe how I did that, what kind of rock was used, what kind of silicone, etc. Enjoy!

  • wow that's awesome man. I favorited this video and sent it to my friend

  • nice tank p !!!

  • Those fish are all huge! Some of the biggest leleupis I've ever seen

  • Great Tank!!! Fish all look healthy and happy. Can you tell us how you aquascaped the tank/background. Thanks pete
