About the break in, you don't idle it. I rubber band the throttle wide open, start it, and let it run wide open for 5 minutes exactly, then idle for 5 and shut down. allow to cool completely. Repeat five times.
@scotchaaron Do what you want. People used to believe the world was flat too. Oh, and BTW,
"run wide open for 5 minutes exactly, then idle for 5 and shut down. allow to cool completely. Repeat five times"
It is heat cycling, dumbass. It is actually heat cycling with bringing the engine to temp as soon as possible and the high RPM helps seat the rings under pressure.
@funkawitz For further information you should never let it idle while your breaking it in stop misleading people your not supposed to WOT (wide open throttle) either learn your shit before you help others
when rebuilding or building an engine, at first start up you must rev it til red line so the piston rings can seal properly. by doing this it will take less time to pass the brake in period and engine will have it maximum compression. when you bore out an engine you make litte crisscross lines this works as a file for the piston rings it is best to rev high on first start up so the lines cut through the rings.
actually u need to rev it hard and steady without putting load on the engine(lugging it)
ive built many and in order for the rings to seal you have to put pressure in the cylinder by revving it and riding it hard the first few minutes. this way the cross hatches get filed down and the rings become seated well. this has been proven time to time.
i did that to my old dirt bike it started off as a fast 50 pit bike then i board the fuck out of it and i kept up with a 250r. my bike would do about 70 mph ,im not shittin you, italy made , ATK ,but i ended up blowing it up and then doing what u said and it pulled a stud out of the block , its not always a good idea to do that
@tshort256 wrong you actually want to go wide open a few times and keep adjusting revv or the rings will never seat properly and youll have to rebuild all over again. research it
hey wats the year on that balster, i gota 98 and i tryed to set up rear hydro brakes but the rear bearing carrier is the wrong mount. The front brakes work fine but the set up is for an 04-06 blaster and the only problem is the resiwar and pump doesnt have a mount, and the baren carrier is stock 98. I have rebuilt it almost from the ground up now exept it is a stock frame(powdered couted), stock swing arm, axel , steering stem, and berring carrier. Please help
a week??? man i revved mine like 2 days after the rebuild and it runs fantastic... break in period is 30 minutes of letting it idle to temp but not let it get too hot..
its want rebuilt like my brother said in the title. it was an already broken in engine off ebay so there is nothing wrong with revving it. but about the compression u might be right about that.
@JDeckin1296 if you have an engine in the blaster already you can rebuild the other one that you and your brother took out and have it rebuilt so if your the one you put in the blaster doesnt last long.

It works for me. Works quite well.

JDeckin1296 2 years ago
then fix your title if it wasent rebuilt then why does it say first start with rebuilt blaster. throwing a another engine in it is not a rebuild.

@JDeckin1296 Stop being a pussy and rebuild it with the parts, instead of buying an engine

u dont rev it up past mid throttle until after you break it in properly
