I'm 31 ... I had a similiar experiance. I remember calling the radio station when i was 9 repeatedly to play it...and its just as good now as it was than. IT DOESNT GET OLD!!
It's nice to hear of "younger" people liking this song. I'm 46. Not quite a baby boomer, yet not quite an X'Gener. I miss songs that were as simple and superb as this. I wish there really was a real time machine.
There's no such thing as a young person. We have existed forever. This 15 year old kid, and me a 26 year old guy are obsessed with these 60s tunes because they remind us of our past lives. When I listen to the Association, the Seekers, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, the Byrds, and Led Zeppelin I am transported back to my past life. That's why "young" people are so obsessed with this 60s music because it takes them back to the previous chapter of their Never-ending Story...
At Prom in 83, as me and my date danced to this song, a girl I loved was dancing close to us. As we turned each time to meet eachother our eyes met and each time we turned it was more emotional until the end when I noticed she was crying. The story continued over time much like the lyrics of the song until we got together twenty years later...
This song will always remind me of the movie "FEED" (2005. Dir: Brett Leonard), where it plays in the opening credits. Yeah, what an unforgettable film!
-_- *sigh* this music, everything is depressing me. All alone am I in the world and as I hear the "Bum Bum" to church bells.. even as beautiful as it is.. perhaps today is not the day to appreciate this music.
I'm only 35 and this is one of my favorite songs. The Association is totally underrated. "Six Man Band" is actually my favorite. It was their crack at a psychelic "piece of pie", so to speak and it's such a groove. I just wish the Association could've gone further with this, as I believe they definitely would've been a rockin' psychedelic band, too. Oh well, I "cherish" what they did give to us.....
I first heard this amazing song when i was around 7 years old, and today although my musical tastes run from mid 60's to early 80's hard rock and heavy metal, this song holds a special place in my heart.
My buddy, who is gay, once told me that he played this song over and over in 1966 because it expressed his love for his best bud who was straight and so could not be told of that love.
No matter how much I loved this song, and believe me, at times, this song would reduce me to tears. Still, Windy will always be my All-Time favorite song from The Association.
Terry Kirkman wrote this song, but Curt Boettcher crafted this recording and yes, that's Curt singing the high harmony in the last verse. Without the considerable input of Curt Boettcher, the Association might yet be an unsigned band, in 2007.
One's imagination creates imagery far better than any video could.I gave the video a 2 rating but the song is a 6. I still see those images of the mid 60s in my mind's eye because of this song.
i just heard this song on the simpsons episode "homer and lisa exchange cross words"
really a nice song

Fabulous: the harmony singing, vocals, melody, text. A real gem, like the Association have made more! Underestimated, fantistic group.
Thanks for all pleasure you gave me, Association!
