@PyroTechnicalnsanity Not really, with the addons and the connect to your social networks you can do it pretty automatically... It is really integrated to your daily activity on the web and very frictionless
Don't be frustrated, it is so easy to get your extension! Once in your Pearltrees' account look at the top right of your screen. Click on the little tool and select extension. It is available for Firefox, Chrome and IE (32bits) and for other browsers you can use a bookmarklet. So don't wait go to your account and get your extension!
This "has" to be an important paradigm shift; if it's going to do what I think it can with developing new ideas and their subsequent applications from organizing one's interests, tools and ideas -- with an incredible assist via social networking and its corresponding collaborations. I think nicbor1 made an important point. Is PearlTree relying on proper implementation, timing and the right "angle" to make it viral for it to succeed -- or is it still not sure of where it's headed?
There are a lot of variations between most brilliant idea ever and total waste of time... But I understand what you mean, it will work or not at all... and I bet it will. You have to consider that we released our beta last week and that we will continue to work a lot to get a better user experience, to increase quality and to adpat pearltrees' social model.
I can't decide if this website is the most brilliant idea ever or a total waste of time. I guess a huge amount rides on how well-executed the design is. Unfortunately it seems like right now it has a long way to go in terms of smooth, usable interface and logic for suggesting similar interests. There's potential though.
It's also the kind of project where you need a big userbase in order to properly get off the ground and it doesn't seem that popular yet. But that may come.
I suppose part of it depends on what you plan to use it for. I'm primarily looking for a less linear bookmark solution... and I've spent so much time creating account after account. This is the first one that is what I need. So for someone like me, the social aspect really is quite secondary.
What gives it potential IMO is that it has value enough even now to begin to organically develop its userbase... I can already think of several people who would LOVE this thing.
Looks rather complicated and time consuming

Or, he could actively seek out something he likes, without needing someone else to feed him advertising based on laying out his life story.
