  • Air bubbles can be minimized by adding a drop or two of laundry detergent or other non-sudsing soap. The purpose of soap is to reduce the surface tension of water which makes it more effective at cleaning. The lower surface tension also makes it harder for bubbles to form.

As for accuracy, the water will always be level no matter how curvy the tubing is.

  • Would this even be accurate if the tubing is not straight against the stake?

  • @insipidtoast Water seeks it's own height no matter how the tubing is held up, builders use these just as accurate as laser levels

  • Wow man, Im starting my own landscaping business. Thanks for saving me the money of paying for a laser level.

  • I've found that its also useful to add some kind of dye to the water as this makes it easier to see the water level in the clear tube. On permaculture courses where we've constructed a bunyip with either used food colouring or improvised by using coffee powder. Cheers Graham

  • Can you show us a visual of how this actually works using a 3D diagram?

  • This looks great. Can one make a swale in sand? I live in florida and my soil is a sandbox. I really would like to do swales, but would I need to bring in clay to do this? I also was thinking of wicking up the water as the water table is very near the ground like 20 ft. Thanks for the video !
