  • This song was banned on some radio stations in the us

  • I heard this on the radio, and was actually moved. So I knew it was TP and I looked it up because when I spent $80 to sit in seats behind the stage a few years ago @ CA Mid-State fair, he WAS Johnny. The show sucked, he spent more time changing guitars then playing and was lackluster at best. I guess it's easy to write about what you know!

  • If it costs a little more it was worth it, you can count on that. And that extra cost isn't for TPHB it's the Orchestra absorbing all the money for travel & expense & wages.

  • this song is "eartbreaking

  • the ignorant tossers in the audience shouting ''get on with it'' and ''play the music'' when Tom is speaking at the end of this song need to learn some respect! If Tom wants to talk, then Tom should talk! End of story.

  • I remember freeform radio stations - Berkeley CA - then FCC demanded strict formats -- DJ's quit in protest - 1968 - 69 I should check dates.....

  • Excellent!

  • You people who saw TP&TH this summer are about to get a free download of selected tracks from the shows

  • you know what i think i love most about tom petty. he stays true to what he believes in. i went and saw the heartbreakers on tour this summer and you know what? tom petty sounded exactly like he did on t albums, cause he isnt a fake. hes the real deal

  • Kinda funny how he complains about ticket prices in 2002 but now his tickets are double most everyone else's

  • @Xtremist777 he is worth 4 times everyone else so it works

  • @Xtremist777 His lowest price at St. Pete Forum was around $36. max was $128. look at prices for Rush LOL

  • @HowPettyful Haven't been looking at Rush's tickets. They aren't anywhere close to where I live. But Petty's show was worth seeing. Perhaps the extra cost was for the opening band. It was CSN so I guess it makes sense

  • @Xtremist777 I don't know about where you live but his shows are never expensive

  • @PicciProductions BB King's Blues festival in Buffalo cost $70 for front row. Tom Petty cost $70 for the last section.

  • @Xtremist777 Oh, well down here they arent that much. But still, it's not as bad as some other people

  • Gotta love that song man

  • I love this song-Tom Petty & the LA Philharmonic? Could it get any better?

  • I love Tom Petty, but come on. My Tom Petty ticket for this summer cost $120.

  • @LandonRocksAtGH Yeah, it is ironic. $120 w/ fees for me too this summer. That's max I'll pay. Saw him for $46 w/ screens outside in 2001. Real good seats are crazy prices...should be first come first serve. Fan for 30 yrs...yep, disappointing. Still love him, but it makes me sad. Don't know how much of it is his decision.

  • @LandonRocksAtGH

ya, it seems to me I used to get tickets for 4-6x minimum hour wage. you got close by standing in line for tickets.

  • Love Tom...AWESOME album...I seen this concert live in Detroit when it was the first musical performance to be simulcast in theaters across America...just like they do big sporting events.

  • Love it! Great recording, thanks for upload.

  • they´re fantastic!!!!!!

  • Is this song about John Denver?

    Love it. Great album.

  • no, its about johnny cash

  • Absolutely right. I love this album. TP is great for not selling out and actually taking a stand.

  • Rolling Stones at Madison Square Garden $600

Tom Petty At Madison Square Garden $50

The whole album speaks of the music industry's greed and its old, fat, white, millionaire CEO's lost of touch with what people want to hear. No wonder CD and ticket sales are lower than ever in history..

  • yes.

  • Absolutley my friend. If the FCC wanted people to stop illegaly downloading music, stop the fat CEOs and from controlling the artists and give the power to the bands. Any band that fails because of it deserves it.

  • i will never go see the stones, at this point in their career they are literally all about making money, i heard a rumor i dont know how much truth there is to it, that they force theyre opening acts to use the house equipment inorder to make themselves sound better, idk how true that is though

  • @stripes923 It's probably true, but not new. When I ran sound and managed a pretty big band in the 80's, if we opened for a "Bigger band," we would be told that I could only use about a third of the watts and speaker system. The rule is, don't let the opening act blow your doors off. I saw that happen in 1976-77, when a relatively unkown Van Halen blew Ted Nugent out of the Capital Center in Maryland.

  • Nice version.
