As someone who has used this tecnique in many live matches, i can say with confidence that it is legal. The moment it is illegal is when the foot slips out from the pit of the leg making it a scissor. I also encountered a situation once where a ref had called a potentially dangerous because although the figure four was completely legal, one of my thighs had come acrross his throat as he was moving around alot, thus we were reset.

it legal..just gotta keep your foot in ur leg pit or they could reset for potential dangerous..but as long as ur foot stay in your leg pit it legal all day long,,at any level!!..even youth..
