a friend of mine told me about the movie and i just saw it for the first time the other day. so sad and my love goes out to barry's family and to calpernia. i love this song also. the only thing i did not like about the movie was the casting of calpernia. lee is an amazing actor, but they should have got someone alittle more feminine and sexy to play calpernia. very sad story though.

Barry and Calpernia had something very special that sadly was taken away in a very brutal manner, I'm glad to see that Calpernia could still move forward, I'm sure Barry still holds a very special place in her heart. I second your comment about the actors, I had no idea that Lee Pace was a man until I saw behind the scenes footage, obviously a job well done. I hope your video therapy worked, great job!!

OMGOSH! I just remembered this movie from like, way back when, I was really young! Now I remember! Holy shat! I don't know about any of the youtubers, but I'm just at awe at my memory, all of a sudden my feelings came rushing back to me about the pain and that weird pit in the stomach for this couple, I knew it ended sad. :(

Great video! It took me back to the first time I saw that movie! It gave me chills all over again! I lived in Clarksville, TN for 4 years and then moved to Nashville so this movie was super close to home with me and the homophobia of such a small town with an army base! Sad story but true nontheless! I wish everyone was forced to watch this video and see the hatred and bullying and peer pressure effects on people and others! Thanks for the video!

Thanks for your heartfelt responses everyone. I'm glad the video has so many views, and reading the comments it's obvious that it convinced some people to check the story out and speak up about it. Especially the latter is what it's all about. Learning about the lack of acceptance and tolerance of transgendered peeps and and the LGBT community in its entirety decreases it at the same time. Yeah, I'm optimistic. ;)

I have heard about this film for so long, but only watched it yesterday. I spent yesterday afternoon in tears and like you said in the description. Its still haunting me now. I am still speechless.. i want to write so much but you cant find the words, The love between Barry and Calpernia, there is things that i can so relate too. A truly heartfelt film and one that should never of happened. RIP Barry xx

Amazing movie and amazing video. The lyrics to the song didn't really fit, but I don't even care because the emotion and the sound of them were perfect. I especially love towards the end, with the quick cuts between Calpernia and the murder. Fantastic, and so sad.

She's halfway through gender reassignment surgery! And in any case she's being played by a male actor, so they makeup that they HAVE done is amazing. Do a search to find the real Calpernia Addams; she's gorgeous.

Yeah, it really helps to know about all the amazing efforts behind the scenes as well as the story at the time it took place. I can imagine it to be rather difficult to 'create' exactly that stage in Calpernia's transition out of such a young and inexperienced actor. Kudos to Lee and crew is all I can say!

O my god..this movie..i already watched it! It was tragic and sad.. I got swept away by the whole story! A smartly written script + Masterfully skilled-directing = A resounding triumph!

It's a heartbreaking story that has way of haunting the viewer. I think that part of the reason is that Barry was such a sweet innocent soul. I can imagine how devastated Calpernia must have been with his death.
