This is so ironic. Every presentation of this song on youtube is an f'd up remastered version. So I couldn't find the original track anywhere. I purposefully avoided this video because it SAYS remastered. Well guess what. This about the only NON-remastered version on the net. This is the original studio version and it is far superior to the remastered crap.
and they used to say this was a weak album compared to blizzard of ozz . i bought this cassette in 1981 (grade 7)and played it to death.`sato` is awesome ` tonight ` has a guitar solo at the end that fades out that is unreal` you cant kill rock and roll`is some of ozzys best I WISH THERE COULD BE MORE ozzy and rhoads music sigh............
@skullnkross what do you mean with "ozzys version". he made the original. also this is not his best version, this is the 2002 version with new drums and new bass which he/sharon made to piss the original players off.
To me, the Albums from Blizzard (''80) ''til Ultimate Sin (''86) sounds best at what they are originaly produced for....... VINYL & Non-Digital !! I dont know if you have the Vinyl of some early live Albums i.e. Speak of the Devil, or better Tribute to Randy Rhoads. If you play them Vinyl and then the CD''s straight after them. You will excactly know what I am talking about. The ,,Cold&Dead,, digitals just doesnt ,,Feel,, alive.....
@Hanzey666 Oh man. I have never wanted to listen to the vinyls as badly as I do now... I knew lots of the old albums were remastered (Bark at the Moon being exceptionally notable), but this was news to me... Hope I'll get my hands on one of those someday :)
I was watching a documentary video on the Columbine killers. It covered the kids spiral into madness before they went on their rampage. For some reason this song comes to mind. Particularly when they are writing their final thoughts in a journal. Amazing song.
does any1 else hear a giant difference between the remastered version and the original? esspecially in songs like Goodbye to Romance.. i like the original so much more.
The scene at 3:36 is very touching, it seems that the madman finds memories of his childhood in his trunk... toy soldiers, bears, butterflies, his mom and dad, etc. but he is too demented to make sense of it all.
god its a pain in the ass to have to drop down the tuning to play along with this...i wish there was a version in normal tuning..but i guess thats impossible. ozzy has learned to sing it this way, and that will never change.
yes but although i too was dissapointed to find out so are all singers really. who in terms of musical importance was more legendary robert plant or jimmy page? angys young or b scott? evh or dlr? singers are the leaders on stage for the most part
The 2002 Diary of a Madman reissue was derided by fans due to its replacement of the original bass and drum tracks by Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake. Osbourne's 90s touring band (bassist Robert Trujillo and drummer Mike Bordin) replaced Daisley's and Kerslake's original instrumentations. Fans and critics generally felt the move was dishonest and resulted in a far inferior product.
@GibsonLesPaul640666 obviously you haven't heard the original much!! There is a huge difference, and yea don't you think it's a big deal to take a classic recording and replace the original players? These guys wrote all this music together with Randy R.... Ozzy didn't even write the lyrics! he doesn't want Bob or Lee to get royalties from thier work! Bob sued Ozzy and won so Ozzy replaces them so they don't get paid! Made me lose respect for Ozzy He's a great singer, he's not the ho show
@WALKERGUITAR they got publishing rights, and royalties...and its all the same.....im not trying to be a dick, i mean ya, theyre kinda different in quality, and authenticity, but its all the same songs, and ppl buy the album because of ozzy, not bob disley and le kerslake
@GibsonLesPaul640666 I think you are missing a huge point here. These songs would not be the songs they are if it weren't for Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake. Bob's lyrics are utterly amazing on the first two albums. Bob Daisley put the words into Ozzy's mouth for a decade and got no respect for it. Ozzy owes his solo career to Bob. Randy was a huge part too, Bob and Randy laid the groundwork while Ozzy was off getting loaded. But Bob kept his solo career alive after Randy.
The difference is that the real composers and players of the music don't get any money from this cds and when you research who is the real artist behind Ozzy you find out that Bob Daisley arranged and composed almost everything, in the end Ozzy turns out to be just a stage figure like Britney Spears.
@Chupertulo they got publishing rights, and they got major royalties...are you shitting me? besides they didnt even deserve them....they were only being paid for recording and playin.....
Yeah. In these videos it's usually Randy that people respond to, not ozzy. Hell, ozzy basically sucked as a singer, and I suppose a great musician like Randy, or Bob and Lee, or the others that he was damn lucky to find, covered up for ozzy and his voice. I wonder what would have happened if they fired ozzy like Sabbath did, and went their own way with someone that could actually sing.
@214fuckoff You are a fucking moron!! Ozzy is one of the greatest voices in history!! Melodic, creepy, great range...his voice gives me goose bumps! Try Ozzmosis on for size kid!
Amazing song! Greatly shows Randy's guitar skills. Amazing video too, not sure if its really official but its also kinda creepy and explains the song.
@tylersuehr7 this definately ISN'T an official video; how can it be? there are pictures of albums that came out MUCH later than this one (Bark At The Moon, for example...) which had different guitarists, because of RR's death....

How could this be an "official" video for this song when it has clips from "Bark At The Moon", which was made way after this album came out? Still, it's an awesome song. One of Ozzy's best, if not THE best.
