Thanks so much for this episode, Jonathan! You convinced me to buy these rings and I love them! Anyone skeptical or hesitant about buying them, buy them, you will not be disappointed.
i love your prop talk episodes! since absolute rings are quite thick do you think they are good for number juggling? is it harder than thinner rings like airflite rings? would airflite rings be easier for numbers? thanks.
Oh boy, my experience with rings and numbers is limited at best. I would think that Absolutes are probably good for numbers because of the thickness and better control. On the other hand they might be harder to hold because of their thickness. Airflites are probably easier to hold but harder to control. I guess its all preference in the end. You can probably learn the same tricks with either.
Sure, you really can't go wrong with rings because they are a very basic juggling prop. When I started rings I bought a couple different sets to try them out because rings are generally inexpensive.
Apparently older Absolutes are thinner but they must have redone the design and now the new ones are thicker (much thicker than traditional rings). Normal rings tend to be on the thin side unless you're buying fat rings which are purposely large.
@JugglerJTW Actually Absolute Circus juggling rings have not changed in at least 15 years. If someone received rings thicker than usual then the retailer that sent them does not have a clue about juggling and sent the Absolute Circus OUTDOOR rings that are thicker (5 mm) and heavier than the regular Absolute Circus rings.
4mm rings are too thick for my personal preference. I used my 4mm thick rings for about a year and loved them, but then when I made the switch back to the standard size I liked those better.
I'm using renegade rings now, which are awesome! they are very similar to absolutes too, imo.
nice video Jonathan! I enjoy your proptalk series.
did you buy your absolutes from jugglingstore? because my first set of rings was from jugglingstore, and they were absolute rings but they were not 4mm thick. I later purchased another set of rings from them, and this time they were 4mm thick, but they didn't have the absolute sticker on them, so I don't even know what brand they are.
I think jugglingstore isn't totally consistent with their merchandise.
Yeah I got them from jugglingstore, after browsing the web for a while it seems that Absolute rings used to be much thinner in the past but "new ones" seem to be made 4mm wide.
I agree with you, sometimes jugglingstore has some major problems.
are there any rings that dont get torn up when dropped on ciment?
