"Are you recording?" "Yes, video and audio." "Well you didn't tell me you were recording, so you're committing a crime." HUH??? Could that cop be any dumber?
Lol I kno the difference between the two words. Maybe I didn't structure my sentence well. It's been awhile since I was in school, but I believe the def is essential. Anyway, keep up the good work
Spin it however you want to, without cops we wouldn't have any rights to "inherent". I'm not saying there aren't dirty cops with weak constitutions that we do need protection from.. I'm just saying this officer is not one of them.
Just remember who gives u the rights to video tape traffic stops, and everything else. That cop.... Also I would trust Chris webbly with my kids, kno him well grew up in coquille. Those kids he pulled over I wdnt let watch my dog. N believe me I kno all three. This guy shooting this cd careless about the kids rights, he just wanted some confrontation to get off on.
@miriem8907 Your a classic example of a coos county imbecile. Police dont give us rights! The constitution clearly says "god" given rights. Nowhere at all, not one spot, does it say anything about police officers. And these officers are prime examples of why i will never live in that county again.
it is our right 2tape traffic stops.it is not strange. rights were violated. wut if that was yr child being molested & persicuted 4 just being a youth? this tape was going 2b used as evidence in trial, but the case was dismissed 4guess what? violations of rights & other letters of the law broken. i thank you for being in that very place at that very monoment. and continue to excersize your rights as an AMERICAN because wether or not these cops reailze it they're helping to take that right away.
These officers were harassing these young men. A reason was made up to pull them over. One of them was charged with not wearing his seatbelt (he was wearing it). It was all done so they could search the car. The young man took the case to court and the judge threw it out and scolded the officer. The officer also had to apologize to him for how he treated him.
Does anyone else think that is strange that the guy pulled over and video taped a traffic stop?? Clearly he was just looking for a argument, Y else wd he gone off about his rights. He was just waiting for officer webbly to come over so he cd say what he did. The best part is he prolly thinks he's kul now Cus he put it on YouTube. Hahaha
If no law was broken, then why is it that you were sent a ticket later in the mail? I know this for a fact, because the police officer is a family friend :D
@TheRangerMonster1 Just like the police officer was misinformed about the law on recording, you have been misinformed about a ticket in the mail. If there was such a thing, it was sent to the wrong person.
i dont get the constant need to film cops just because they are out doing something, then posting it on youtube because he asked who you were. you interjedted yourself into his attention. Had he stopped you it would be a different story. now if you see the police doing something illegal knock yourself out and film it. thanks for posting 5 minutes of nothing, followed by a cop not violating the law..
Here is my prob. In watchng that 2020 show, and reading ALL the info on the net re Leahs case, I am worried that the accused has fallen victim to an agency that seems to be too quick on the draw. In this video we see accusations of breaking laws as well as what I felt were intimidation tactics to reinforce who is GOD. In the 2020 show I believe I heard him say there is NO PHYS evidnce. Seems Leahs case is now HE SAID SHE SAID. My big ? is what prompted changed stories now? Whats going on there?
Isnt this the same fellow who didnt mind 20/20 cameras on him while he was in pursuit of a man (who should have had the presumption of innocence (Nick McGuffin)..? I believe I even heard an officer say (on 20/20) that Nick deserved to be prodded, well before he was arrested. I have also read about many charges brought forwar where cases are dismissed due to lack of evidence. What is going on in that town? I have much respect for good LE and there are many. Its the bad ones that wreck ones faith
You are wrong and the Officer was wrong. You are forbidden by ORS 165.593 from intercepting oral or wire communications where you are not party to the communication. It is an A misdemeanor. The Officer did have a DUTY to identify you by your DL, and probably just warn you, or maybe more appropriately, haul your wannabe street lawyer ass to jail.
I think all of the anti-police postings are funny. The second any of you are being victimized, you are the first to call the police for help.
As for your comment on ORS 165.593, I think you meant ORS 165.543. You must understand that I was a party to the conversation. Therefore no law was broken. Also, case law such as Skoog vs. Clack. Co. hold there must be an expectation of privacy. There was no expectation of privacy here.
As for identifying myself, under Oregon law that's not required, even in a Terry Stop, unless being cited or arrested.
And this ladies and Gentleman is why we need constitutional police and sheriffs put back on the force. Had this officer been such he would not even looked at the camera mans way. Be mindful how you vote, Do not allow your ear to be tickled with fine and claver words if they do not follow your Bill of RIghts!
Well why didn't you demand his id? Clearly he wrote down the license plate numbers as a means of intimidation. So what I can see is you did a half job.
Why waste your time arguing with the cop? If they insist that you're breaking the law, tell them to arrest you. If they do, sue. If they don't, you're golden.
He wrote down a description of your vehicle, wrote down your license plate, and nothing happened? Let us know if you get a ticket in the mail for like parking on the side of the street or impeding traffic or something stupid like that.
@twocementshoes You know that is the same response many many people have when a cop walks up to them and someone says something "back". Yikes. Why are we so fearful of our so-called "protecters"?
Very well done. Great that you informed him properly what the law is and remained calm. Too bad he took the license plate numbers though cause you're now on his shitlist and I'd recommend keeping the camera on you 24/7 from now on. Getting a backup voice recorder might be prudent also. *likes*
