  • There is no consensus as to who fired the fatal shot: It was Emmitt Dalton. He shot Collins in the back of the head. Dalton was the spy. Later, on more than one occasion he got drunk and confess his crime to a family member of mine. My Grandfather served under Dalton.

  • I hope whoever killed Collins is in hell along with hitler and bin laden

  • @charlie97martin Do you believe the story which the US government came up with about the Bin Laden assassination? It smelled like total bullshit to me from day one e.g. the burial at sea "according to Muslim tradition"...BWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!! lol

  • @RichardElden Why on earth would you be glad a place was bombed?

  • I saluted this video.

  • @RichardElden

Ireland will be united once more, probably not now but one day.

    Tiocfaidh ár lá

  • @RichardElden

No they won't need another IMF bailout very soon, they making cuts to prvent another bailout.

If the EU finishes this will bring the UK along with it since the UK cannot old it's own without the help of the EU.

    Scotland will have independance.

    Wales will have independance.

N.Éire will return where it belongs.

Your glad millions of people died, immigrates around the world and left they families behind, are you human?

  • @RichardElden

You hungry, you havn't been fed in a while have you?

The "Bankrupt South" is fine within the EU, it would never rejoin the UK. The UK is falling apart with Scotland on the verge of independance, Wales pushing for independance and N.Ireland will merge with the Republic of Ireland in the future, that sir is the likely outcome.

    Terrorist?

Such an hypocrit, I think you want to look closer to home for terrorists.

  • @RichardElden how the fuck was he a terrorist??? , he's only a terrorist because of british propaganda, collins was a hero who devoted his life to freeing ireland from british tyranny, the only bad part is he wasnt able to bring the 6 counties along. collins stood uo for what he believed in, whichis wat alot of ppl lack.

  • @RichardElden

He was commander-in-chief of the Irish Republican Army, the IRA what brought the British Army to it's knees.

He then became Commander-in-cheif to the Irish Free State Army.

    What defines a general?

  • @RichardElden

    Yes General Collins.

  • My Great-Grandfather fought verse General Collins in the IRA, my other Great-Grandfather fought against the IRA for the Irish Free State Army.

  • what a cuz

  • Micheal Collins is related 2 me! ME-Megan Collins, Dad- Paul Collins, Grandpa- Dan Collins, Great Grandpa- Dennis Collins, great great grandpa, Micheal Collins's cousin!

  • 4 dislikes 4 brit proddy bastards i reckon

  • @dub4lifeboy

luv ur RAGE, make that 5 LOLOLOLOL

  • I teach my sons the REAL history of Ireland warts and all, But one person I don't need to clarify is Michael Collins. He is still a hero of mine, God Bless you, Mick

  • Bad choice of music lad.

  • very sad

  • R.I.P mic ya did uz pound u were the best man off ur time ! wee will make it 1 day mic u were a man that want his country free and in peace ! mic ur ma heroo

  • dev knew wat the brits wanted so he he used big mick as bait

  • Another interesting piece of vintage footage totally ruined by the usual moronic Wolfe Tones song on the soundtrack.

  • COME ON IRELAND wwwwwwwwwwwwwhhhhhhhhhhoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! We Love You Michael

  • tiochfaigh ar la !!

  • Michael Collins was a hero and DeValera was the traiter he knew what was going to happen and that is why he sent Michael to meet with the british.

  • really is a disappointing time in our history when our own people dont have a fucking clue what happened in the past, and who cling on to retarded beliefs without having the intelligence to actually examine all the facts. Collins was secretly supplying the northern units of the IRA with weapons after the Treaty, He also had the courage to sign a treaty he knew would see him killed, despite having achieved more than any other Irishman in the 700 years previous. You sicken me

  • @TheBadMonkee ye, there are alot of one sided stories in the history of ireland, and alot of ppl dont know the truth behind theme.

  • It was also Collins who tried damn hard to via the IRB to stop the split in the IRA which led to the Civil War. Ironically considering the views of Dathi and cuntejones, it was only after Collins death that the Civil War became the vicious horror it did. Up until his death, both sides were united in their admiration and respect for the man and what he had achieved - even if they did not agree with the Treaty, and were determined to fight it, they never lost that respect.

  • Hardly the acts of a traitor. But then dont let a little thing like facts get in the way...

  • It was Collins who put together the intelligence network which crippled the English. It was Collins as Minister for Finance who put together the hugely successful National Loan which helped fund the War. For those who see him as a traitor who divided the country its worth remember the majority of the IRA units in the North of Ireland supported Collins stance. Even after the Treaty, it was Collins who ordered the assasination of Wilson and kept arms flowing north

  • It really is remarkable just how dumb some people are. What Collins achieved was nothing short of miraculous. Even the majority of the anti-Treaty forces who fought against him admitted that and retained an admiration for him. Putting it in context - without Collins it's quite possible we would still be under English rule similar to Scotland or Wales. Of course some wannabes with no actual knowledge of the situation at the time will disagree but it only shows up their lack of intelligence

  • @TheBadMonkee Wales are not under half the control of what we used to be (thank heavens)

  • Im with Collins all the way as for betrayal wasn't it Develara who betrayed Collins?

  • @TheJkuy there has been enough irish blood spilt that it would drown the whole of england if it were put into one pool.Hero`s like wolfe tone robert emmet the men of easter week the hunger strikers and many more men and women have perished from 1169 -2011 .the vast majority of these died at the hands of the english and some died at collin`s hand holding a english gun.Collins did not free Ireland he divided our country and put a puppet goverment in power that answers to england

  • Heros die young

  • What a man. Tragically his life was cut short, who knows what would have happened had he lived on? Don't have much time for Devalera, especially when it became apparent he coevered up the scandals in the church. Sean Lemass was the only good leader of FF. I liked Lynch as a person, but he drove ireland into heavy debt.

  • He was a brave man,he fought for Ireland,he died for Ireland.Respect for Michael Collins from Occupied Balochistan

  • @faizee2711 he was the only one that was willing to step up god bless you gt gt uncle michael

  • @lesleyx41 He was not the only one. You have to give some credit to all the IRISH that fought for there fredom. The only reason he got killed was that he belived in the Treaty but not everyone belived in it. Most thought it was not a free Ireland.

  • Thumbs up if tejbz brought u here

  • soooooo can we all agree the english are cunts and go along to get along

  • He was a great man! RIP!

  • Death to the British Empire!

  • @Zikan13

Brit Empire has been dead for ages, didn't u know that?

or are u like one of those Jap soldiers in the 1950's convinced that WWII was still kicking off?

  • 1 shot simple

  • @Forgotten1333 nobody cares unless u can get us weed

  • he was a pawn....

  • Just goes to show you can't ever a trust a Paddy, Mick or Seamus.....they'd kill their own mother if it meant getting a pat on the back from that snake DeValera

  • LONG LIVE OUR FREEDOM

    LONG LIVE COLLINS

    LONG LIVE THE IRA

  • A great life cut way too short!...michael collins gone too soon

  • I normally don't write posts on these forms but I think Dathi67 post deserves some comment

Have You Dathi done more for Ireland and the Irish people than General Michael Collins?.

I don't thing the even the most ardent Republican with the least grasp of history would share your baseless opinion

  • @75Leduce So what you are saying is that if tomorrow a british soldier swaps sides and goes and joins the taliban and starts shooting his ex comrades he is not a traitor `will you make him out to be some hero`.please dont even try to say this is different. The bad things you do in life will always out weigh the good

  • @75Leduce I think if you had any grasp of reality then you would know that the nationalist pepole of the 6 occupied counties dont regard any free stater a hero for leaving them to the mercy of the worlds most evil empire

  • love it ;

    what a man ;

  • i support the IRA 100% but killing him done this country no favors at all, yeah the north was not freed but if you think he would have sat back like the cunt De Valera did and watch the north turn out the way it has i dont think so. the IRA shot the man who freed more than half the country , more than any other man ever did for this country and people have the neck to say he turned his back on this country are fucking dopes , RIP MICK IRELAND'S GREATEST HERO

  • @burnthebrits collins was a traitor.he sold out his republican oath he had his ex comrades murdered with brit guns. any good collins done before he partitioned ireland has to be ignored `you cannot make a hero out of traitor.I understand where your coming from `and respect your opinion

  • @dathi67 yeah he sold out the north but he had no choice it was one big step that Ireland needed to take and i do agree with you to a point cause simple fact is if dev thought he could have done better he would have went himself he done his best for the country he loved and i bet if he had of lived longer he would have got the north back to . he was just as unhappy about the divide as anyone else. i respect you for speaking your mind man

  • @burnthebrits everyone has a choice .He made macartland gilmore and judas look like novices

  • @burnthebrits fuck off loser and get a job

  • @dathi67 Collins was not a traitor have you taken into account that Collins saved the country becuse England threatend war on Ireland if the treaty was not signed Coillins just saved the people of the country it would have been a war Ireland could not have won.

  • @TheJkuy when you betray your comrades and have them murdered with there enemies guns `what are you?

  • @dathi67 Im with Collins all the way and as for betraying wasn't it Dev who betrayed Collins first?

  • @burnthebrits johnny adair simply the best, you'l never get the north i live in drogheda good one ehhh ironic , i know you dont understand that word but ironic it is

  • @GlAsSaRm yeah your some man you live in the south and you think that scum bag is a hero hahaha your nothing but a dirt ball you will get yours you queen loving prick

  • @burnthebrits good to see you Paddys killing each other - after all unity is the LAST thing we Brits want - it just make you imbreds that much easier to dominate!

  • @revol148

go fuck yourself british prick...uptight repressed cocksuckers are all u brits are

  • @stephenm28 can we meet up sometime for some anal sex? After all screwing the Irish is the thing that we Brits have always done as any history book will confirm - so why stop now I say!

  • @revol148

How about u fuck your father in the ass instead? Michael collins is the reason that ur not screwing us anymore. Id love for u to come over for the weekend & we'll see who fucks who in the ass

  • @stephenm28 yet another piece of youtube dialogue which trails off into mindless abuse.

  • @revol148

You started it pal...I finished it!!!

  • @stephenm28 well no because I'm still typing - but has anything been achieved I ask?

  • @revol148

Well you tell me cos all you got are snyde remarks that have nothing to do with the subject of michael collins, so you can type till the cows come home, couldnt care less!

  • @stephenm28 "snyde remarks" eh is this from the very same person who suggested I fuck my father? - careful when you attempt to take the moral high ground.

  • @revol148 Do you think you're the one taking the high moral ground, weren't you the one who wanted to meet up for anal sex in the first place? Dont for one second think that you are better or smarter than me. Bottom line is you started all this with your racist , small minded opinions on michael collins & you turned it personal which is something I wont back down on....EVER!!!!

  • @stephenm28 what....ever?

  • I was borned in Newfoundland before confederation so I still consider myself under British rule.I will never be pure Canadian,I'm to old fashion

  • Micheal Collins was first and foremost a soldier who was stitched up by Dev, When Big Mick signed the Treaty his words were, "I have just signed my death warrant, Dev, in the true sense of a politician, knew that the treaty would never be accepted by the majority of Irish people and that is why he sent Mick, Dev said of Collins, ‘‘It is my considered opinion that, in the fullness of time, history will record the greatness of Michael Collins, and it will be recorded at my expense.’’

  • @d00r5nt I agree 100%.Dev knew what he was doing when he sent Michael Collins to London. If it had ben straightforward Dev would have went to London himself and bathed in the glory. No he knew full well the treaty would have its enemies and the gutless eejit sent Mick instead

  • A great man and thank you for this fine footage. Well done!

  • in my eyes michael collins is the superhero of ireland

  • i m breton and for us his life for independance is an exemple

  • Collins was the greatest man who ever lived. My heart breaks with the thought of him dying so young, and with all that he never got to see, things that he brought about. RIP

  • This man died for IRELAND!

  • the big fella

  • collins was the man

  • @paullynskey1 Traitor

  • @paullynskey1

    he was my coz

  • For the Americans watching this. To know how the Irish felt about the death of collin; just imagin if George Washington was killed say during Shay's rebellion just after he won the war. That's the feeling Ireland had when the Big Fella was killed.

  • 1royc he was the head of army he was hardly going to cleaning the rilfes for the columns before they went out. He had a lot more to think about than the day to day running of local battalions.

  • shut the fuck up and have respect for a hero of ireland

  • i hav a great interest in collins but i think he played both sides.Dan Breen and Tom Barry had issues with him from time to time about his views and how pro active he was and his knowledge of the day to day fight the local battalions were having with the Tans

  • michel collins is ma relitive didny now till ma dad told me

  • What the english did all around the world is come into a country ...f**k it up! And, then decide "what would be better? Deal with this or cause a civil war?" So they caused a war among the people so they wouldn't have to deal with the shite! They under estimated the Irish though!!

  • That's what you get for standing up to a greater nation, total ownage and execution.

It's a shame ireland only got their independance when the england said they could have it!

  • @SexualTourettes

    England had to cave in.

It was the same with the rest of its dieing empire.

Now with SNP and SF gaining votes in their areas we will just take what is ours.

Then when england is on its own ... we wont forget what it has done nor will everyone else. We (irish, scots, welsh, indians, americans, etc.) will make sure you get whats coming to you.

Still keep making those comments. It people like you that get SF votes.

  • Dont bother with Sexual Tourettes he has no idear what he is talking about he just wants to piss someone off.

but about your comment The Empire was very much alive in 1922 in fact it was at its peak and Americans Indians dont count it was not just English doing that the Spains Portugese French Dutch Belgin where doing the same to there colonies

Its funny really Im half English and half Irish and I love both countries its just funny that they hate each other

  • @SexualTourettes your government and army in 1921 had not got the morale to fight the Irish so course they handed over independence, they couldn't deal with more British soldiers going home in boxes.

  • they still dont have it

  • collins barry.cork lads we love u

  • wot ever they say ,michael collins we love u always and forever.up the 32 counties and celtic fc

  • i dont , i think he was a cunt

  • Good one!

  • de valera was the coward who made collins the scape goat for the breakup of our country..but the brits wernt gonna give it all as the north as we know it was the 2nd most important port in the british isles at the time.....it was that scumbag carson who decided the 6 counties as along with the port he wanted the counties around it for protection.......if collins hadnt died i really think we'd have a 32 county country not long after 1922.....RIP...bigman........

  • well said

  • i think thats rubbish to be honest . Collins had a good realtionship with the british , particularly andrew cope of the british foreign office . Google it .

  • Que Dieu sauve l'Irlande et la France des hommes politiques.

Michael Collins avait raison avant les autres !

  • De Velara and Adams used better men than they as pawns because of their inate cowerdice to stand to the fore, Such are they and I know no worse invective than to call them what they were then and are now...'politicians' ! God rest ye gentle, Michael, and God save Ireland from politicians.

  • Well said, KeshHarp. Last week, I brought my Girlfriend to see Beal na mBlath, where Michael was murdered. My Girlfriend is Hungarian. She was 4 years of age, in 1956, during the Hungarian Uprising. Her Father fought against Russian Tanks

  • whats the song to this video

  • Wrap The Green Flag 'Round Me Boys

  • Collins wasn't assassinated. He died in combat, with a rifle in his hands, in an exchange of fire.

  • it was a attemted assassination but it turn out to be a normoul ambush the thing was a car came up and told micheal to get in but he stayed and dyed

  • @dingane the thinking now is it was a british sniper

  • @vivascargill whose thinking? It was Sonny O'Neill, an anti-treaty IRA volunteer. He had previously served in the British Army but in August 1922 was in arms against hte Treaty and the Free State.

  • @dingane I came across this in Dangerfields book--but I claim no expertise --and I can't find the book!! I had never heard a name mentioned--but I will look again when I find the book!!

  • @dingane ps as I say I have my own ideas but it is not my place to make unfounded assertions particularly since I am not Irish--let me just say that some comments here reflect my own thoughts but I have no right to make an assertion--Dangerfield I do think says perhaps a british sniper but I may well have misread.

  • @dingane pps I found the dangerfield book--I was mistaken my regrets--but I swear I read it somewhere or I could be becoming senile--probably the later--but most upeople seem to say it was an ambush and I still have unfounded suspicions--

anyway sorry I got it wrong.

  • @dingane, he was the main target of the ambush, it was done because he'd be there, sounds like a hit to me

  • @ShankillRoadRIRA, the local Anti-Treaty IRA would have ambushed the column whether Collins was in it or not. Over 100 FS soldiers were killed in that month, August 1922.

If the convoy had surrendered, Collins would have been taken prisoner.

As it was, Collins was killed in the firefight, armed, exchanging fire. That's killed in action not assassinated imo.

  • aye ok, I was tryin to act smart really, I was just goin off the film :p... do you think he wouldve still been as big a legend though if he'd lived to a decent age, dying young makes the ultimate legend.. I think if gerry adams had been killed instead of arrested back in his day he would have legend status now, even though hes been able to do a lot more by living, some people have turned their back on him now which is awful to see.. Republicanism needs a lift from somewhere at the minute

  • @ShankillRoadRIRA you're right there. If he'd lived to vbe as old as De Valera we'd probably thing of him as another boring grey politician, just like Gerry Adams.

  • @ShankillRoadRIRA If he saw your username he would turn in his grave. The RIRA should not use the proud name of the Collins IRA

  • @TheMedicalman Couldn't agree more. Couldn't see Collins authorising the soft target hits of the so called''real' IRA.

  • @dingane Collins (My Great Great Great Uncle) Did Get A Shot Gun To The Head....

  • @Pacman117productions A Great True Irish Man , He Died For Ireland , Michael Collins is embeded in all Irish Mens and Womans Hearts Forever More , We Will Never Never Forget, God Save Ireland , RIP

  • @dingane they were ambushed!!

  • @dingane no he was ambushed and the only one shotl I call that an assination. FYI I am a Irtish Canadian with a BA and did Irish History at one of Ontario's finiest univerisies. the who and the why will be dbated but how is well documented.

  • @kyldy , ambuashed yes, one shot no. Thre was a 45 minute or so firefight in which Collins took part firing a rifle.

People seem to think I'm making a political point here. I'm not. It's just a matter of facts. Sean Hales, for instance, was assassinated in the civil war. Collins was killed in action.

  • @dingane HE DIED FOR A CAUSE but was killed by his own

  • @dingane HE DIED FOR A CAUSE but was killed by his own

    ,

  • @dingane HE DIED FOR A CAUSE BUT WAS MURDERED BY HIS OWN/

  • @dingane

  • @dingane oh were u there.. Please fill us in on exactly from ur viewpoint dat day..

  • just a point, im just wondering if there are any laws in place now that mean michael did not have the right to sign it over (no offence intended) just seems if they call him a terrorist why do they accept his signature?

  • does this mean if i join the bnp can i sign england over to the irish? because i will!

  • we dont even wont that much land. the uk dont want the north it cost them money. we only want it so we can fulfil collins, dev, wolftone ect dream of a united ireland

  • michael (god bless him) was branded a terrorist throughout was he not? then how come he had the right to sign for the british to own the north and did the british not all ready take the north why did he have to sign it over to them? if he had to sign it over to them for them to be there legally was the british being there before he signed illegal according to the laws of war or whatever, you understand what i mean.

  • He didn't sign over the North, Ireland had already been partitioned because home rule was supposed to have come in to be in the south in 1914 (the first world war held it off) so Collins signing over the North would be like Wales signing over Scotland to somebody. When a country agrees to go in to talks with terrorists they can accept them as representatives. He wasn't a terrorist anyway, he wasn't like Bin Laden he was fighting for democracy not tyranny.

  • the act of union of 1801 made all of ireland part of the uk till then it was run by a viceroy collins did not sign northren ireland over the brits just took it this is going back to the plantations when the english moved irish people off their land and gave it to their own!! the moast successfull plantation was in ulster hence the problems today!!!

  • If those idiots hadn't assassinated Michael, he may well have became president of the Republic rather than DeValera. Michael never accepted the partition of the North as the final solution and President Michael Collins would have probably achieved a United Ireland, the Irish Tricolour would be flying above Stormont and the decades of bloodshed during the 70's, 80's & 90's would have been avoided!!!

  • true for ya!!! RIP the big fella!!!

  • How dare any1 call Michael Collin's a

traitor!.He went and done De Valera's

dirty work.He knew the treaty would not

be popular but still brought it home. The coward De Valera did not.

Tell me this would anyone else of done

    the same.

    R.I.P Michael Collin's

  • Well Fucking Said!

  • Well said.

  • Absolutely right, I went to Glasnevin Cemetery last month and saw MC grave and it was covered in flowers and a beautiful wreath, and I took photos and it was a wonderful moment !

  • you are a fucking thick! Know your history!

  • twice the number of irish people turned out for Bobby Sands

  • But don't forget when Collins was buried there was a Civil War going on and he wouldn't have been popular with the Anti-Treaty side at the time so they weren't going to turn out to pay their respects to the man.

  • eh i know who killed michael collins and im not even messing.who do i tell and how do i go about it. my relation was told to tell charley haughey or...some other politician...afraid, he never told either.any suggestions?

  • Great video - never saw the full funeral before.

  • I'm 5th generation Irish-American. I count Michael Collins and my father as my two heros in life. My surname is Sullivan. I have visited Ireland just once but plan another soon. I intend to spend significant time in County Cork and Kerry. I alson intend to visit Glasnevin Cemetery to pay respects to Collins and other Republicans buried there. Collins and my father are never far away. I think of them both frequently. There will come a time I will see them both. ERIN GO BRAGH!!!!!!!

  • I bet your American.

  • nothing gets past you does it :P

  • @Clonakilty32 enjoy and my mums name is sullivan.iam english but never british.up the cork brigrade and the 32 counties

  • @Clonakilty32 Excuse me ? Your 5th generation Irish ? Are you serious ? Your parents were born in America You were born in America. Your American. Sick of people claiming that there Irish when there history states there not.

  • @19SeanMurphy79 if he says hes irish hes irish that is rude

  • @THEIRISHVL97DIMIR its not rude its a fact. Americans have no history to claim there own so they latch onto what they can of other countries. They all dig dig dig til they find something they like and call themselves what suits them. Hes been to Ireland only once yet considers himself Irish. What a joke. He should put away the fantasy books hes been reading. Whats doesnt he move over here and pay some of the bills we have if he thinks hes that Irish?

  • a hero for the I.R.B and for ireland. a man who truly loved his country..Pearse aswell and all the men who fought in the easter rising an the war of independance and many more..
