@blackster I think Steve Morse has breathed a new spirit into Deep Purple that is doing fantastic in it's own right... - But Ritchie definately took some spirit from DP... I agree 'guitar doesn't own the spirit' - but I don't think the vocals do either... Deep Purple's spirit has never died for me - through all the line ups.

They told us that Sartriani could not join Purple because of contract problems. But now you can check im out on youtube saying that he did not go to Purple because he feared never to escape the ghost of R. Blackmore. Even Steve Vai recommended to him not to do it because Blackmore`s shadow would be to big.

Great performance! Gillan nailed the vocals better in 1994 and 1995 than in 1993. Guess he just warmed up in '93, and wasn't on fire until Ritchie had taken all his sour lemmons with him and left the band. Satriani was brilliant!

it's sad. DP reunion in the 80s was great but then gradually the spirit was going away. Gillan solo, Ritchie and Roger in Rainbow, even Lord solo or in Whitesnake looked and sounded more natural. And such #8 or #9 DP lineups and mixes are a bit pathetic.

Compare this shitty solo with the Child In Time solo Ritchie did on the made in Japan cd.
