  • "Conduct the music, not the orchestra."

A conductor will earn the respect of his colleagues if he conducts every rehearsal as if it were a performance. Gestures other than those directly related to "mood" have no purpose other than "theater." This subject can not be posted in full here. Contact: wisavola (at) hotmail for a print copy of the complete statement. Listen carefully to Larry Livingston on Youtube and perhaps upload Google: William Savola or Youtube /user/williamsavola

  • professor superbly conveys what the right approach to conducting must be, that is to try to develop individual abilities of the conductor, without sacrificing technical, objective aspects of the profession

  • so articulate in his message

  • wonderfully said

  • excellent work!

  • This is the heart and soul of a great conductor. Pay your dues by learning excellent technique, then forget it and become the music. While on the podium, it is never about you so let go and sculpt the music with what is inside you. Take the band and the audience to the edge of heartbreak, then have the technique and passion to decide their fate through the picture you paint. Perfect.

  • this guy is a genius.

  • Amen.

  • "In the end, all the rivers run together." Perfectly put!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you

  • Nice comments!

    Richard Lert always said,"Don't be a time-beater."

Check out the many videos on Celebidache. You'll love him!

  • That man exactly knows what music is. "Break your heart and I'll set you back together." Great, simply great.

  • awesome. :D

  • wat mahler symphony is that he talks of

  • He is doing the quiet moments into the last mvmt of MAHLER FiRST, which immediately follow the stormy opening to the entire movement: Stürmisch bewegt- Energisch! enjoy.

  • Such a kind human being.

  • It's good, but many people might disagree.

  • Wow. Simply wow.

  • Sounds great in theory until you have to sit in front of this charlatan and try to play. A road accident from beginning to end.

  • Have you sat in front of him? Just wondering.

  • Regretfully, yes. Did a 2 week workshop many years ago. Not something I'd ever like to repeat.

  • @Ivannova I knew something had to be 'off'. So, how is he? Overly demanding, weird?

  • hes great

  • Bravo!!

  • This guy is great....can he teach me.

  • Oh. My. God. This guy could talk me into marrying my grandmother.

  • This is probably one of the reasons why he is an excellent conductor.

  • Come along now, that was really nice!!
