heres what i think slipknot needs to do: make guitar riffs rougher and raw-er, and get those short pauses they had in self titled. i personally prefer the more mature lyrics and musicianship (like SonicthunderBYG said) i just think that their guitar riffs should be a slower and more aggressive.

These new songs don't touch me in the same way as Vermilion and Disasterpiece did. I can't help how i feel.

I still bang my head at these songs, and i love riffing, and i do still get a bit of a surge of feeling through me, but not as strong or the same as the old Slipknot music.

Here's another dynamite song on All Hope Is Gone that wasn't played live. Seriously, what were they thinking when they penned the setlist for that tour. They left out this, "Vendetta", "Gematria (The Killing Name)", and the title track, "All Hope Is Gone". Not to mention the second half of "Butcher's Hook", starting with the "You'll never censor me" line is incredible and head-banging gold (actually platinum. *wink*). Seriously though, the four aforementioned songs should have been on tour.

Comparing Slipknot albums is like saying which masterpiece is the best masterpiece. Both their self-titled and The Subliminal Verses are classic metal albums, and Iowa and All Hope Is Gone are still excellent A++ albums, but just barely fall short of timelessness.
