he seems great! his advice and corrections are legit. i hate it when your partner doesnt want to admit when he is not doing something right and he blames it on you basically and then you get nothing accomplished lol
@xxxclixxx I was thinking the SAME THING but on the other hand, I was like, "Oh shit, people are gonna yell at me." She is so small I feel like I could wrap my hand around her whole waist.
With all due respect, you are the one who is taking my comment to heart and going on the offensive, which includes name calling and jaded remarks. I have not stated that she should gain weight nor have I criticized her technique. You are so busy defending your position that you can't see the trees for the forest. You've refused to address any of the issues I've written on this thread. I'm terminating the discussion out of respect for the readers. This goes for other boards too.
@sasusaku198naruhina if you are intending to do ballet professionally (i.e. making it a career or participating in competitions) then it would be too late. Professional ballet dancers all start ballet at the ages of 5-7. By the age of 18, most of the dancers are semi-professionals, and they finish their career by the mid 30s latest.
However if you are planning to do it as a recreational type of activity, then it is perfectly fine, as I've seen people do in in their 30s and 40s. Good luck!
I have been following your videos and find you have wonderful technique and flexibility. Unfortunately, because of these factors along being thin, inexperienced dancers may be sent the wrong message, which is supported by the comments below. You're a beautiful dancer; however, sometimes professionals fail to consider what type of message they send. The series is an excellent teacher, but it also sets near impossible standards, so that people don't know what is "normal".
@fredrika27 Sounds as though you are just diminishing her talent. She has obviously worked very hard to be this way, to be such a wonderful example of what we all aspire to be able to do. This looks like a great message to me. And anyhow, I don't believe there is a message here, whatever the viewer takes away from this is there own prerogative. They are not leading people to hurt themselves or are training anyone poorly. Just setting an example, and a correct one. This is how I see it.
I think you failed to read my first sentence in which I praised the dancer for her technique and flexibility. I'm not trying to diminish her talent. Not to restart the issue on weight, but I voiced a legitimate concern. Had I just wanted to criticize, I would have not made kind remarks.
@fredrika27 Praising her does not soften the blow when you use words like normal. As if she is not normal for some reason. So what if she is extrordinary. I just don't buy your idea about there being some message of impossible standards. There is no "standard" set here, it is an example of how to properly execute a technique. If her ability heightens the asthetic so what.
@fredrika27 People will look at talent and be depressed because they think they have none, or they will be inspired and work hard to be as good as what they see. Are you afraid the second people will somehow hurt themselves by seeing this? Or are you sad for the people who turn this instructional video into a negative thing for themselves? We are all responsible for interpreting what we see, everything has a message but it does not have a sender. Don't blame them. Just worry about yourself.
I have a typical ballerina/model type of body. I am not anorexic or bulimic or anything of that sort. I eat more than very well and am perfectly normal and healthy.
@ballerinaariana ok ok, i really really mean no offence, seriously, i am so sorry if i offended u , i really am, it just that, i take ballet too, and to wildcowgirlatheart, i really didn't want to offend her, just in case, i was just asking, i am really really really sorry, pls don't take it to heart! :)
@serenevil um excuse me, but just because a person is thinner then most does NOT mean that she is anorexic. So if someone was just chunky does that mean they are obese? UH NO i dont think so.
@brocolims she.is.not. btw when ppl say that they dont mean to be mean, it usually means that they KNOW the comment is mean, but are just gonna say it anyway.
