Jack crashes his plane in Rapture, and the only one who communicates and helps him is Atlas. Every bit of advice Atles gives is preceded or followed by the phrase "would you kindly". Jack goes to murder Ryan, and Ryan, in his final hour, shows Jack how much he's been a puppet.
... After Ryan's death, which Jack couldn't help but cause, Atlas reveals himself to be Fontaine, who "created" Jack and turned him into a slave by programming him to follow all orders with the code word, "would you kindly".
WOW that sucks he just killed in someway the good guy.... and just to add was his father and the only person helping him from the crash was atlas and now.... All i have to say is that this was a great ending to a game and really did have twists almost like a movie Great Game!
Aight i remembered this after reading a text. In the game you see a ghost calling Andrew Ryan to her room. You later pick up her diary and hear her talk about how she was pregnant with Andrews baby and didn't mean to. maybe thats Jack. just a thought.
this doesnt look like bioshock it looks... weird looking at the crosshair and idk and also the fact it was amde two years ago. im not making fun of this im just curious about bioshock iss there also a old version or what? idk im just confused about bioshocks creation timeline you know?
The reason Ryan had you kill him was he wanted to prove something, that he had a choice and he chose to die while you had no choice and you were forced to kill him.
That may be the reason, but I don't have to like it. It makes me sad that Ryan's beautiful city, his dreams were destroyed by Fontaine and YOU helped him.
how so? Sometimes games are really sophistacated, kinda like this. How all throghout the game you were deceived. Andrew also has a lot of good ideas and stuff although rapture went to hell
He doesn't really address you as a son. At the start Ryan even wonders who you are, but the photos on the 'would you kindly' wall and audio tapes suggest otherwise. Surely Ryan would know about them ? Ah well. Fine game
Ryan had been constructing that while you were dicking around in Rapture; putting the pieces together. By the time you show up at his office, he's figured it all out.
I started shooting the dead corpses I suspected as being alive splicers with my crossbow, you can sometimes get the bolts back if they're really dead so you don't waste ammo :)
lol same as im walking past i think "hmm i dont remember killing that thing" walk past i notice i get attacked so i look around then i see a nitro splicer right behind me with his ugly face. then i jump and shout "ah fuck ah jeezuz ahhh"
neither, usually you hear enemies coming(they sing, talk to themselves, whistle, etc.) its hard to not notice a splicer & get scared by one, although you dont always hear them coming so them can make you a bit jumpy
Man, I know its about playing the game and not the ending but it is a let down after all the moral choices, that was the one over hyped part of the game when everything else was class.
Enjoyed it though and will play again. So much longer than recent action games and beautifully paced though. (Just finished Fear and The Darkness in under 10 hours or so, this took about twenty.
So he went to rapture because of that word? Did he also hijacked did plane just to get to rapture or was he brainwashed to do it? Please explain anyone!!!!
Atlas is really Fontaine. Fontaine is a mob boss who was one of the people initially responsible for finding ADAM, his goal is to kill Andrew Ryan and take over Rapture. You are Andrew Ryans illigetimate son whom he had with a hooker. Fontaine had you brainwashed to become an assassin so you could kill Andrew Ryan. He used to words "would you kindly" as a trigger phrase to make you hijack the plane you were on in the beginning and make it crash at the site of Rapture, and assassinate Ryan.
@caffeine4671: The reason I believe is that Fontaine sent you out of the city so that when you came back you would be old enough to be able to make your way to Ryan. Also because if you stayed there, there was a chance that Ryan would have discovered you.
Yeah if you listen to all of the audio diaries, you find out that that Mc-something prostitute...hell, I'll call her McLovin....was in love with Andrew Ryan, who ditched her, and she was attacked during the New Year's Eve raid by Fontaine's (now Atlas) followers. Her face was disfigured, and after getting fixed up, she decided to go over to Apollo Square (where Atlas and his followers lived) and start some shit.
However, I disagree with what you said after this point. McLovin definately didn't have the baby before she was killed, since it's not in any of the audio logs and her giving birth to a child would have been worth mentioning.
We know that Atlas kills her, and I believe that he simply takes the genes of the dead baby and uses them to create a new child from scratch, complete with a controllable brain. (he wasn't brainwashed, his brain was literally engineered to obey the "would you please" phrase)
She isn't the mother. The dancer who calls herself Jasmine is the mother. They payed her to get pregnant with Ryan's kid, then took to fertile egg after a time. Ryan found out, and murdered her in her room. You see the memory ghosts when you get to the club, and if you follow them into the back room, you find her corpse. Diana getting killed by Atlas is a completely separate incident, and was actually just a stroke of bad timing.
Thanks. I disagree with your view on the ending. Plot-wise it isn't groundbreaking, but much more advanced than any other game. The atmosphere and artistic technique throughout make this my favorite game thematically. This is great for the game medium as a whole.
I do agree with the Atmosphere and Artistic comments..but not everybody is gonna enjoy those aspects of the game (though i do). What was it that i said that you didnt agree with ?
You said in stickam that you were very disappointed with the endings. I like them both, despite their (lack of) length. Maybe I misinterpreted your comments.
after you got rid of the would you kindly code he does a thingy to make your heart stop then you kill him!

piemaster3425 4 years ago
He's actually Ryan's son, in some way. And "would you kindly" was a psychological phrase that you had to obey.
crazykid565 4 years ago 4
Not exactly, he's in some way Ryan's son and the phrase "would you kindly" was a psychological phrase programmed to get you to obey their orders
crazykid565 4 years ago 2
Fast explantion, anyone who says Would You Kindly before or after a phrase makes your character obey the command no matter what.
