you don't know why final cut is good its profissonial editing software. it supports more codec's it has alot of tools and options, (witch a amateur won't use often) more options mutch mutch better color correction. you can edit red camera's higher then hd. easly.

shortly adobe premiere and final cut also avid witch is still the most used software in prof editing .

are ment for prof editing. you do know that these 3 programs are also used for hollywood movie's right.

I had iMac and purchased final cut pro for maybe a year ago and I haven't get learning to use it the software is hard to understand and is yes waste of money I will go for an pc and maybe Sony Vegas software or another software I'm never liked iMac there is so many things so are hard to understand and the pc are much more easier to understand and it have many different keyboard and mouse pc is much cooler than an iMac I Glad I'm not going to use iMac anymore soon, and the most things is work o

After Effects and Adobe Premiere are very high quality editors. Though, depending on what you're doing, After Effects might be overkill.

After Effects is the best editing software out there. Suggest using that, if not Premier Pro. Both the interfaces are similar so if you learn one you sort of learn half of the other.

Final Cut X is over-rated, for sure. FC 7 gets the job done fairly well, but rendering wastes too much time. Premiere Pro is my next purchase--no rendering, yay!

I agree with most of what you're saying both Final Cut Pro & sony vegas deliver the same results. But Final Cut seems to be becoming a simplistic yet advanced Software so its easier for new editors but still has advanced features for those experienced in editing. IMO i prefer final cut pro xD

@eflon21--- I call FUD on Mac virii. Bologna...unless you are talking about Mac Classic.... which had a few. But in 14yrs of using Mac, never seen a Mac virus- though my Mac has detected attempts plenty of times to be accessed by PC based stuff (epic FAIL). Now that isn't to say there are no malware, requiring user to be an idiot or gullible..... Besides, my buddy working AV support queue would throw it in my face if some major Mac thing hits. I don't do video, but Final Cut pro isn't the Industry std- Avid is the industry standard. Avid has a high learning curve from what I am told / have seen. ProTools (once owned by digidesign and now part of Avid's product line now) integrates with it to do the audio with SMPTE timecode, etc. And that is what I have been using to do audio recording for like 14 yrs now. avid.com

The only two MAJOR editing programs (It's not up for debate, it a fact. Watch a movies credits and see what editing program has been used) is FINAL CUT and AVID. I use AVID.

Final Cut is a fantastic editing software, when put in the right hands. I've never actually used Vegas... but I hear good things. I myself use Final Cut Pro, not because I believe its better or the industry standard. But because it's what I learnt to use going through school and I am now comfortable with it and can make decent videos with it.

To me all computers have there good sides and bad sides....Ive worked with both Mac and PC and neither is perfect.

I direct and edit TV commercials and so Im on Final Cut all the time. I worked with an AVID for over 10 years and then my company decided to switch to Final Cut and man that was tuff going from AVID to Final Cut. Im used to Final Cut now after a few months but if an option to go back to AVID came up again I'd jump on it.

I use final cut every few summers, and I still don't get it. I had the trial for sony vegas for 10 minutes and I had already gotten the basics done without watching or reading a single tutorial. I love my Vegas. I only have movie studio, but it gets the job done fine. The only thing I hate is that sometimes the video preview gets REALLY hung up for no reason.

In Final Cut Pro you get a lot of thing over Vegas. A lot of big movies have been edited in Final Cut Pro. But for Vlogging Crap and stuff like that you don't need it. My friends dad uses Final Cut to edit professional videos and he says it blows Sony Vegas out of the waters.

To me, it's easy and fast to learn, I don't have to jump through hoops to figure it out... and best of all, I can afford it since I'm semi retired and every penny counts.... I guess if you're in the upper middle class bracket and dad is a doctor or something, then go for the status... I'll use the extra money for other things. :)
