If you are suggesting that GracieJJ is the best MMA style, you are wrong. Its how you utilize your skills, not what style you know. Fedor has had one too many fights, and has fought some of the best in MMA. Usually fighters reach their peak at mid thirties, then gradually become less, and less efficient at striking. And, then there bodies become less resistant to hits. But, the recent fight with Silva only shows that Fedor still has some left in him. The fight was stopped remember?
Werdum is right. Fedor doesn't have the same power nor quickness as before. Perhaps it's aging. Perhaps it's from all the wear and tear over the 10 years. Perhaps it's just a lack of motivation or complacency. Whatever it is, I don't think Fedor will ever regain the top spot. As much as I like Fedor, I think his career is over.

@Victorythruattrition The reality is that today's fighters are more complete than those he fought YEARS ago so don't trip. It is truly a downfall for FEDOR to keep training with his camp. They've never really trained outside and a true fighter will never train inside the box. He must go out to experience other types of Disciplines from actual fighters from around the globe. He can be the strongest, the baddest man on the planet but if he doesn't UPDATE his skills, he's going to fail big time.

Werdum is so right about his camp. He's done the same training for years. It worked in the days of Pride but he has to change his game. Bring in some top guys to Russia and get to work. If he still wants to be the best he can come back. I think he looked better in the Rogers and Werdum fights

fedor's striking wasn't as technical as usual. he was winging shots. then he jumped into silva's guard twice. i dunno. just seemed like a dumb fight. silva should be given credit though. great control from mount and big punches.
fedor seems too caught up in the business and financial aspects of mma. to keep up with these guys today you have to constantly update your game and you need to study your opponent more. fedor is still able to get better.he is always calm without a care i think he needs to get fired up and go full blast before he retires
I think Fabricio is right...maybe his camp is too light on him or it could be he just isnt that interested in fighting anymore. Whatever Fedor's choice is I think will be the right one and I will be fine with him coming back or retiring.
Werdum ,imo, is the best heavyweight in this tournament. He has only been knocked out once in his career and lost 3 times by decision. He has defeated Fedor,Silva,and Overeem (all considered ,well as least not Fedor anymore after his loss, to be the best heavyweights/pvp fighters in the world). If he win against Overeem again then you cant denie that he is the best.

LHWs have a different skill set than HWs, and vice versa. fedor might have certain advantages in HW that make him successful. cain isn't a giant HW and one his assets is his cardio, but alot of guys in the LHW can go 150mph every round.

@57worldwide i was reffering to Verdum....but,as far a Fedors situation goes,(according to Dana White) 1 iof the main reasons Fedor declined the UFC contract,is cuz it didnt allow him to fight in other organizations (japan ect...) The main reason imo is because Fedor is being controlled by a higher power (russian mafia) & this "higher power" wouldnt be able to controll Fedor if he was under a UFC contract Thats my theory anyway...Either that,or hes scared to fight the best?

FYI: Werdum was not cut, and he beat 2 of the UFC's upcoming "stars", Gonzaga and Vera before leaving the UFC.
Arlovski was on a 5 fight winning streak, and KO'd Roy Nelson before fighting Fedor.
He left the UFC for more money, and he sure got it. :)
Disregarding that, Arlovski was ranked #2 in the world at that time, there was nobody more worthy of fighting the #1, than the #2.

If you are suggesting that GracieJJ is the best MMA style, you are wrong. Its how you utilize your skills, not what style you know. Fedor has had one too many fights, and has fought some of the best in MMA. Usually fighters reach their peak at mid thirties, then gradually become less, and less efficient at striking. And, then there bodies become less resistant to hits. But, the recent fight with Silva only shows that Fedor still has some left in him. The fight was stopped remember?

Werdum is right. Fedor doesn't have the same power nor quickness as before. Perhaps it's aging. Perhaps it's from all the wear and tear over the 10 years. Perhaps it's just a lack of motivation or complacency. Whatever it is, I don't think Fedor will ever regain the top spot. As much as I like Fedor, I think his career is over.

They've never really trained outside and a true fighter will never train inside the box. He must go out to experience other types of Disciplines from actual fighters from around the globe. He can be the strongest, the baddest man on the planet but if he doesn't UPDATE his skills, he's going to fail big time.

Werdum is so right about his camp. He's done the same training for years. It worked in the days of Pride but he has to change his game. Bring in some top guys to Russia and get to work. All of his partners look around 210 and suck compared to who he's fighting. I dont even think he trained with a 280 pounder to simulate Bigfoot. He got into fighting to feed his family now hes rich. If he still wants to be the best he can come back. I think he looked better in the Rogers and Werdum fights

Fedor is my all time favorite, but I really love Werdum too. He just makes me smile. Ariel should have told him his English was sounding good, I bet he would have lit up. I remember in the post fight press conference, when he beat Fedor he was just barely learning and had to ask Babalu how to say a lot of things. Now he's doing much better with it. I hope he does well against Overeem, however I like Overeem a lot too. I'm torn =(

and of course it could be as werdum says the eviroment, but any case its a number of factors that adds to the final state of him.
Also i dont think fedor is someone that wont talk for real, he has probably ended his carrer for real.
it's sad but it's about time, this is the end of the best fighter of the century, hope he has a good life for the rest of your days.For the one that trully stood over all. Time for the rest of the warrior.

Fedor needs to switch camps.. in the interviews he said he changed NOTHING about his training style, he dosent watch videos of his opponents fighting, AND he dosent train with the top fighters in the world...just the fact that he got so far is a true testimony to his skill and ability to make do with little resources...anyway I want to see him train with the best now !!

@plutoend99 I know what you mean I think its Fedor's stubborness which prevented any need to further update his skillset or camp but at the same time it was also his advantage which gave him success so he didn't want to mess with that formula.

Fedor started getting worse after the whole M-1 thing. He started losing sambo fights and etc.
You stop improving the moment you stop having that someone who pushes you.
Fedor used to train in Russian Top team, he was a nobody and people pushed him.
Now he is a celebrity in his team, he started sucking.

fedor's striking wasn't as technical as usual. he was winging shots. then he jumped into silva's guard twice. i dunno. just seemed like a dumb fight. silva should be given credit though. great control from mount and big punches.

fedor seems too caught up in the business and financial aspects of mma. to keep up with these guys today you have to constantly update your game and you need to study your opponent more. fedor is still able to get better.he is always calm without a care i think he needs to get fired up and go full blast before he retires

I think Fabricio is right...maybe his camp is too light on him or it could be he just isnt that interested in fighting anymore. Whatever Fedor's choice is I think will be the right one and I will be fine with him coming back or retiring.

Werdum ,imo, is the best heavyweight in this tournament. He has only been knocked out once in his career and lost 3 times by decision. He has defeated Fedor,Silva,and Overeem (all considered ,well as least not Fedor anymore after his loss, to be the best heavyweights/pvp fighters in the world). If he win against Overeem again then you cant denie that he is the best.

@vovadrama Yes you are right, Werdum has class and is also humble, what makes him to a complete Figther. For Fedor i think he fights only for his fans, he is not the same Person as in Pride. In Japan he also was a superstar but they are differnts than the America. The lights of the media and the popularity was not good for fedor (the fighter). He lost his fightpower and will he is more religious and that both is not a good mix .

LOL @ everyone finding excuses for Fedor. He looked great last night. He was very explosive and quick. The problem with Fedor is that he is a very small HW. In the past he has gotten lucky with big HW with no skill or skilled HW that aren't that big, but now HW's are big and skilled. Fedor is just out of his weight division right now. He needs to move down to LHW where he belongs.

@kswizzy99 I agree with this and Fedor is my favorite fighter. The game has evolved as well as the fighters; Fedor was more well-rounded and athletic than other HWs, but not anymore. BigFoot is huge but he's very very quick for that size. Fedor never faced such fighters. And also his speed and power has gone down, as Werdum stated.

@kswizzy99 Thats perfect and exactly how I see it. Theres nothing wrong with his loss. He never got KO'd, he didn't stop, he didn't get submitted. He's actually nuts he endured alot irregardless of outcome. He could of when he should of... LHW would have been a perfect mma weight class for a 6ft man with a bit of mass.

@kswizzy99 My thoughts exactly!.But suppose thats part of why people love him so much is because he chooses to fight at the tougher weight...The polar opposite is Anderson Silva.He walks around 6 2" and over 220lbs but cuts all that weight just so hes the biggest,Strongest guy.Then he even has the balls too complain that shits too easy.

@kswizzy99 im not really a fedor fan so im not sure, but i cant see fedor fighting in any weight class other than HW. its not as easy as it sounds to just move down a weight class and start owning. LHWs have a different skill set than HWs, and vice versa. fedor might have certain advantages in HW that make him successful. cain isn't a giant HW and one his assets is his cardio, but alot of guys in the LHW can go 150mph every round.

@kswizzy99 until his last 2 matches fedor has been doing just fine with the bigger guys. i dont think size was the factor as much as speed. silva was a bit quicker than fedor. if you check sherdog, silva even admits that it wasnt size, it was speed and a different skill set. also according to frank trigg, its 90% skill, 10% size. i like having fedor be the smaller guy. its shocking to a lot of newer fans to see the smaller guy dominate. i'd rather him not go down a weight class.

@SUBIESAMURAI07 no way Fedor should NOT retire. There is nothing wrong with him. He went up against a 285 lbs BJJ black belt. OF COURSE his takedown defense would look bad against that kind of size and skill. Fedor's sambo skills can only do so much against someone that out weights him by 50-60 lbs. He just had a bad matchup. I still think he has the ability to beat Lesanr and Cain. They are a better matchup for Fedor than Silva is.

@worldinuniverse lol U put any HW outside of the top 10 infront of every opponent fedor has faced and they would do the same with winning streak, hes beaten no one credible apart from Nog and Crocop in thier prime and still he couldnt finish them. Hes beaten a few ex ufc champs well out of the peaks of their conditioning and when the HW divisions was at its weakest with depth.
It is no suprise that Fedor has been beaten by 2 cans in a row.Ive always known he sucked.

@TROLL4x4 we ll never know who would acheived the same wining streak if he had fought the same opponents in Pride . let's stay with facts that Fedor was viewed as the best before fighting in ST, lesnar was new to MMA and his only test was R.Couture before wining the title . but for now let's compare records of the best in the 2 orgs : Wer( 14-4)/C.V(9-0) , A.S(16-2)/JDS(12-1) AO(34-11)/BL(5-2) i really don't know how anybody in his right mind would say UFC HWD is better.

Strikeforce does not have half the depth that the UFC has not to mention Cain Valesuez Number 1. Untill Strikeforce can get a fighter ranked higher then Number 2 they will remain in UFC's shadow.The UFC in every division has SF outclassed by miles.SF gives title shots to fighters coming off a loss"rogers" wtf? u wont EVER see that @ ufc.
