where is best depends on conditions on the day. It would be meaningless to tell you now. Apply surf science, but swell at sea= tide on the river. State of tide on a beach = freshwater level in the river..how deep are the banks submerged, how much water is coming in...it's complex, but it makes sense.
Well there are bores in August if you want to come and have a go! The bore is not like the waves you get on beaches mind! They act very differently, for example if you pop up at the point you are talking about you get sucked back and spat out so you have to wait for it to level out.
It looks like fun. I really will surf it before I turn 50 in 7 years.Afterwards Im gonna drink some pints and celebrate! I will drop you a line if my wife and I come over to the other side of the pond.

at 1:35 there is a peeling littl left shoulder. get out there kook!

You never know where the shoulder will pop up on the bore and when you get caught in the white water its crazy trying to get out of it. Great fun!
