  • fuking crazy good man!!!

  • Very true to form. Right bass, playing over the right pickup, with the right technique.

  • Killer!

  • very nice playing man! nice bass as well =)

  • SWEET jazz

  • the tone man, the tone! like wow!

  • Nice playing! Cool looking bass to boot.

  • what is that bass its beautiful and what are the pups

  • It's a custom made one. The PUs were old EMGs (active). I have now installed a pair of passive vintage Fenders.

  • omg that tone is perfect

  • Really great playing! Clear and perfect timing and sychro! Great work!

  • very nice. i dont like the versions played with the thumb, this is how the song should be played

  • the versions played with the thumb(slap) is how marcus miller covered it. so slapping marcus miller version, with fingers, jaco. with fretless, the real deal:P

  • Hey you gotta respect Marcus. He is a legendary bass player. He shows his respects to Jaco by carrying his music on in a new form.

  • I suppose you can't argue with the hat comment. :-)

  • his hats are not THAT bad.

jaco had some pretty weird hats, too you know. kenny g, miles davis... I think have a weird ass hat comes with being a Jazz musician.

  • Jaco had awesome hats... MM's hats are just... blah

    too modern

  • downed for "kenny g" in the same sentence as miles davis

  • haha! hey, never said I liked kenny. my dad ran into him at namm though, which is surreal, even though my dad and I don't really like his playing.

  • Perfection.

  • yeeah you can play...is it a Ibanez fretless?

  • It's a custom built fretless of Jazzbass type from 1986. Active EMG pickups, Rotosound strings and a lot of marine epoxy on the neck:-D

  • Well done! Awesome growl!!!

  • This is just great!!

  • yay Jaco

  • Wow....

  • you make for a very realistic jaco clone

  • its not a clone haha jaco never died !!!! he has been living in secret in an attic!!!

  • Great playing man!!:) I too am wondering about the epoxy thing ... as I am considering trying it with a fretless ... are you pleased with it? I suppose you are using roundwounds now? Or did you always? Thanks for any response ...

  • Tnx! I'm very happy with having coated the neck. Before, the sound was dull (even when using roundwounds) and the bass was not very inviting for playing.

Do the work in a well ventilated area and use gloves and a mask.

  • Good job, and LOVE the finish and neck of your bass.

  • Thanks! I removed the frets some 20 years ago. Added seven layers of marine epoxy this summer for a more crisp sound and wear protection.

  • Did you sand the neck inbetween coats? Did it make your neck more shiney? Nice playing too.

  • Yes, first grit 120 then grit 400 sand paper after each coat.

Not more shiny, but I believe you could polish up a gloss if you wish.

The epoxy doesn't smell very healthy, neither as fluid or as dust!
