In a free market anyone can start a business and compete with anyone anytime. The more unfree a market is the more monopolistic it will be. As far as turning patients away from emergency rooms, note that as a Doctor it was common for Ron Paul to waive his charges for patients who could not pay. The reason some of his ideas seem extreme is because he is actually honest. Unlike all of the other politicians lately who say what people want to hear, he says what he actually believes. In a free market anyone can start a business and compete with anyone anytime. The more unfree a market is the more monopolistic it will be. As far as turning patients away from emergency rooms, note that as a Doctor it was common for Ron Paul to waive his charges for patients who could not pay. You seem to have this trust and expectation that Government oversight and regulation is going to make you safe and make people treat you fairly. Well he does not want to legalize drugs and prostitution, goes back to the Constitution on these issues and simply says the Federal Government cannot regulate these things, exact same stance on prayer in school and abortion. He also has the only plan to SAVE social services like Social Security, Child Health care and Welfare for those who need it. Not only does it take away the freedom to opt out but services provided by the government are also notoriously inefficient & corrupt. The reason some of his ideas seem extreme is because he is actually honest. Unlike all of the other politicians lately who say what people want to hear, he says what he actually believes. If the Federal govt wasn't involved the cost of medicine would be lower and therefore there would not be the pressure on ER.
