Albino Luciani showed devotion to God for 33 days in the Autumn of 1978. - It was such a shame that God called this gentleman who had served us and prayed for usas the Most Eminent Lord Pontiff for such as short time to be with him in his eternal kingdom.

Ionnaes Paulus I only had 33 days in the post as Pope but still served Our Father in heaven with such devotion.

My mother says that she expected a 12-13 year papacy for IP I, and the shock of his death led to the support of love for IP II

It may have something to do with the time of year - Albino Luciani was elected in August - whilst Karol Wojtyla and Joseph Ratzinger were elected in Autumn and Early spring

May be wrong since Giovanni Montini (Paulus VI) was elected in June and still had the red garments,

Actually this video doesn't show Pope John Paul I's Urbi et Orbi blessing on the day of his election (the evening of 26 September 1978) - the clip that starts at 00.13 is taken from the address he made the following morning (27 September). That's why he isn't wearing what you'd expect.

so sad he didn't live for longer as he would have been such a great pope - you can tell from how ordinary he was in this speech - I am very certain he is at God's side now

How are you certain? I liked him, too, but I also believe in Purgatory, a tenet of the Faith. It would be very unCatholic to not pray for his soul.

shame that he is short-lived. but his replacement is the greatest pope the world ever seen.

Hardly. The greatest Pope was either Saint Gregory the Great, Saint Pius V, or Saint Pius X. The history of the Church goes back a lot farther than the pontificate of JPII.
