I think it's a valid tempo. It needs very good orchestra players (which they have), and it makes a lot more sense for the singer/text. Also, you hear two beats to a bar much more clearly. It really dances this way.

@pocketsymph: a little. You can hear the pulsations from the strings better if it's slowed down only slightly.
