Wow i havent seen an alaska airlines 737-200 in a long time

I never knew that a 737 could be configured with a ski! Or a tube sticking out the front to keep crap from being sucked up into the engine. What else will JustPlanes teach me?

I used to live in Mountain Village, Alaska. My parents and I always flew the -200 from Bethel to Anchorage and back. I loved those jets, and miss them!!

if you mean same type, yes, they are only typerated for one aircraft. if you mean same model, not necessarily; sometimes they'll get the same one, sometimes they won't

Yes, that's the reverse thrust on the engines and the spoilers on the wings, both used to stop the airplane.

Nice. If I'm not mistaken, the only airline in the US that operates the JT8-D is Northwest Airlines on their extensive fleet of DC-9-30/40/50's. Their most ubiquitous one, the -30, was built in 1967-68, and still flies like a champ. A little thirsty, though, for 4.00 a gallon jet fuel!
