Röyksopp are one the best electro band in Europe! To bad they are not even playing the instruments :). I make electro so know you don't sit there playing a synth and the music comes out perfectly to the record everytime.

Well, actually if you want to be specific that is a MS-10, but it's basically the same instrument, the 20:e has got some more features that's all. If you like electronic music you should definitely get one. The MS-10 is much more affordable, going for about 450 euros, it's a bargain.

You know what's even more affordable? The Korg DS-10, an emulation of the MS-10 that runs on the Nintendo DS videogame system. It might not be quite the same thing, but you can get some really neat sounds out of it and it's only like $30 USD.

Hm, well it might be fun, but considering the price for a DS it's not all that affordable. Besides, emulations just aren't the same thing. I say: stick with an MS-10 alt. 20 and use an original GB and LSDJ for all your portable music needs. Then again if you already have a ds, why not do both?

At the risk of breaking some hearts: there's obviously a lot of play-back going on here... granted, it was a while since I heard Melody A.M. but if my memory serves me correctly, this sounds a bit too spot on to be live. Anyway, my bet is that most of the effects are MS-10 and/or 20 with lots of delay... there's an electric guitar in there too. Don't know about the lead(s), doesn't sound like a basic MS-10 patch but they're using a lot of effects so who knows?.

Heh yeah, I never thought it was a live recording anyway; it sounds almost exactly like the album version. Some of the weird sweepy sounds do sound like they're coming from the MS-10/20 but I have no idea what they use to make the lead sounds.

The real question is what they're using to make those pads... I've know I've heard it somewhere before, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. Anyway, have you done anything with that DS-10? I haven't heard anyone actually use it to do anything yet, it would be fun to hear what it can do outside of a dull demo perspective.

Heh, I've made little things with it, but I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to electronic equipment, so everything I come up with just comes from playing with it and turning around the knobs. I've only made one complete "track", and it's not very good. Some other youtube users have made some pretty cool things, but it's easier to make weird sounds than good music. I wish I could make cool pad sounds with it, but it's monophonic and doesn't have reverb, so it's challenging.

Well, it's basically a Scandinavian sound. This is probably shot during Röyksopp's transition from Scandinavian indietronica to more mainstream electronica. Back then they where very much apart of the underground electronic movement so it's not surprising that you'd mistake the sound for Swedish or even Finnish for that matter.
