Halo 4 = Marathon.

Marathon was made by Bungie before Halo was even thought up.

Go look up the game Marathon (very similar to the original DOOM). And look for the beginning cut-scene, if you can find it. It's the exact same as the special ending to Halo 3.

It has a Spartan super soldier in it, a female AI construct named "Sierra", and a few other things that connect it to the Halo world.

The terminals around Halo 3 near the end hint towards Marathon's influence on Halo. Kthxbai.
