As a little child, I always thought Optimus HIMSELF was to blame for his own death. They have their enemy, defenseless, clear in gunfire. Instead of finishing them off, they TALK. And then the person who is hesitating mostly dies, or the enemy gets away. If you're going to shoot, shoot! don't talk!

And I can't BELIEVE that all of the bullets that the Autobots fire always MISS. Even if Optimus DOES shoot when Megatron is right in front of him, He will probably miss...

In the end it wasnt optimus;s mercy that got him destroyed, it was that he couldnt kill a freind who mistakenly became overzelous in the combat and got himself between the enemy. remember that mercy is the ultimate and most beautiful pwoer we as human beigns have.

I like how everyone is all mad at Star-Screen for kicking out Megatron. Megatron has been clowning Star-Screen probably everyday of his life since he was built. What did you expect? I'd say this part of the movie, the first half-hour, is the best. It's the scariest and most shocking, it has the highest casualty rate (12 bots are murdered horribly), and it doesn't feel padded out, for the most part. The tone is pretty interesting, contrasting moments that could have been taken straight from the cartoon with moments that could have come from a war film.

Still, was Omega Supreme on vacation? And why is Soundwave letting Megatron die? And how is Astrotrain so big?

This Movie really struck a cord with the Fans like no other, it was a roller coaster ride to the end. You didn't know who else was going to die, who were these newer Characters, what obstacle was coming next, it had all the Fans on the edge of their seats to the very end. Now thats what a great Movie does, it was a ride for the ages!

Alas, he only remains with us on movies like this and the original "Transformers" and "G.I. JOE" TV series - he died not long afterward. Rest in peace, Mr. Latta. Rest in peace.

I didn't see this movie until I was 25 - when it had been well and truly established that Prime is essentially unkillable, even in the G1 cartoon (thank the AllSpark!).
