  • he had 1000 rec and 1000 rush yards before marshall faulk..and hes still not in the HOF, proves what dicklickers sportswriters are.

  • im watching the giants vs san fran playoff game and im rooting for the giant but i just remembered roger craig!!!! that dude was something else i used to love watching him rum when i was younger...

  • ugh he ran so angry and viciously a brutally brilliant player

  • Roger Craig was at his peak from 1985 to 1989. That is not long.

The 3rd reason is Roger did not reach 10,000 yards in Rushing and only had 3 seasons over 1,000 yards rushing. His rushing numbers were that do that fact Craig shared the carries with Tyler, Cribbs, and Rathman while he was with the 49ers.

While Roger Craig's stats don't pass the test of time in rushing the ball, he should be in the Hall of Fame based on his impact on the game and how import his role was on the 49ers.

  • Roger Craig was a great all purpose 1980's running back like Marcus Allen was. Roger not being in the Hall of Fame is caused by 3 reasons in terms of the voters.

The first is the fact Rodger Craig is not the same class as 1980's running backs go. He is a considered a step down to Walter Payton, Eric Dickerson, and Tony Dorsett. He is in the next group of 80's running backs that includes Marcus Allen.

The 2nd thing is Roger did not have a long period of time being dominate.

  • Bri'onte Dunn is the future Roger Craig!

  • I sat next to this guy on a plane from Chicago to SF a few years ago. I didn't know who he was at all until people came up to me after the flight and were going hysterical, saying "that was roger craig!!!" He was a really nice guy though, really easy to talk to. He mentioned that he used to play football for the 49er's but we hardly even talked about football, we mostly talked about his son and running and where we both were at in life. so he's a great guy off the field.

  • HOFmer now.......yup!!

  • guys like marshall faulk follow in THIS guy's footsteps...first man with a 1000 yds rushing AND receiving in ONE FUCKING YEAR!?!?

  • Roger is my dude, unfortunately i will never forget THE FUMBLE

  • Those knees were deadly. Gotta love Rathman's flying block at :24

  • In My humble opinion yeah montana is a big part but not as important as the whole with walsh roger ronnie and rathman nonewould be even close to being remembered if walsh didn't bring it to pass. SAN FRAN NINERS FOREVER!

  • Throw stats out the window and watch this guy play. He was a great player, and an essential part of the 49ers dynasty.

Its funny, no one judges Joe Montana on stats because we know he is a great player, so why can't we do the same for Roger?

  • Ran into RC today at the market, really great guy!

  • I am an Eagles fan, but I remember being enamored by Roger Craig when I started watching football as a kid. He was the first all-purpose back, and really showed what an West Coast RB was all about. Plus you can't forget the high-knees. I think he is probably the most underrated football players ever. He deserves the HOF.

  • No doubt he's a HOFer. He is the only RB from the NFL's 1980's All-Decade Team not already in the HOF. He led the NFL in receptions one year (1985). 3 TDs and 135 total yards in Super Bowl XIX. When he retired, he was the 12th leading rusher of ALL-TIME and he had more career receiving yards than the 11 guys ahead of him.

  • allright, no audio track huh? play grace by lamb of god while watching this video. the song itself fits roger's running style...agressive.

  • his knees have to be jello by now

  • Actually he runs marathons now..its his new hobby..what a machine!

  • i think his fumble in the NFC championship hurt his legacy in SF and his shot at the HALL of fame..49ers would of won 3 superbowls in a row..damm

  • Totally agree with your notion, 49ERS49ERS408.

  • i actually forgot about that..ARGHH

  • great vid

    this video was good ms

  • how is he NOT in the hall of fame? thats a shame one of the best.

  • I remember his fumble against the Giants in NFC championship game. However think Roger Craig is the only man in NFL history to gain 1000+ yards rushing and 1000+ yards recieving in the same season. One of the greatest Running Backs ever.

  • Marshall Faulk also had 1000 rushing & receiving in the same season (1999). However, Roger Craig did it 1st, as well doing it in an open stadium & on natural turf. Faulk did it in a dome and on artifical turf. Therefore, Roger Craig's is more impressive. Roger Craig should make it in the HOF because he is also 1 of the only backs I know of to make it to the Pro bowl as a halfback and as a fullback. I cant think of any other.

  • u hit the nail on the head 1000/1000 1st

  • i wasnt born yet to see him play i dont think... but my step dad told me about him. hellllaa raw though

  • The first half-back EVER to have 1,000 yds receiving and rushing....3 rings and an absolute beast on 3rd down. How in the Blue FUCK is he NOT in the Hall Of Fame?!?! Long live Superman..... Niner fans around the world will always love Roger.

  • Some day Roger craig will be in HOF , you know how the HOF commitees delaying.... Montana was the first ballot . SO far Niner's 13th HOF, Rice not yet in,hell there's alot more... Go Niners

  • Go Niners!! =)

  • thanx for posting

    GO NINERS!

  • nice. he was da man. High knee tour chin ain't good for your health.

  • I Met him. He is such a beast. To bad he fumble against the Giants in the playoffs. One of the best all around half backs of all time

  • he needs to be in the HOF.
