I'm going to defend the spectrum version here. Its a great game! OK it plays a bit different to the arcade, but I feel it plays better. Yes its a bit difficult, but stick with it, its a good challenge. Not sure why the reviewer feels spectrum's can't scroll too well. I'm thinking about smooth scrolling speccy games - 2 I can think of were zynaps and uridium.
Nice music on the C64-version, lack of colour and it looks quite lacking compared to arcadeversion. Nice too see a C64-version with more than 3 sprites :) Seems to play good.
Amstrad version looks the best and sounds good. Few enemysprites, usually a problem with C64 games this time. on the Amstrad CPC. Flickscreen would have been better than this "scrolling"
I loved the Amstrad version back in the day. Played it endlessly untill i finally managed to complete it and was thinking this was an amazing conversion of the arcade.
Wasnt untill 20 years later .. when i got online and everyone else told me how "horrible" the game was (bad scrooling and whatever) ;D
Great idea, nicely done. A bit of a shame the Spectrum version was so poor. A bit sad for me because I was bought up on one. To be fair, Cobra was a lot better for the Spectrum than this. Maybe you should do your magic on that sometime. Great idea for a channel, nicely done. Best of luck, and thanks for introducing me to 80's porn :)
I notice you're still getting sound lag issues with the Amstrad recordings - did my new version of WinApe not help or are you having an issue installing it? Drop me an email dude if you like :)
@Xyphoe sorry dude all the videos you are seeing now are videos i pre recorded about 4 months ago, ive yet to try the little present you sent me as ive been busy working on my Weekly retro gaming podcast and planning stuff on the site.
Ooooh - that's a very camp looking Robin Hood the Amstrad CPC version has there! LOL. I did also LOL @ the mincing comment! haha In fact I'll probably start a longplay and review vid for this one on the Amstrad tonight.

Re. the arcade version of Green Beret, the difficulty level has been set to pretty high. You can change it from MAME for a much easier gameplay :)

loved the NES version, complete replica of the arcade if you ask me.

does the C64 ever lose? :)
I found this to be a harder choice this time and I personally haven't made up my mind. All three have pros and cons.
MoreDakka101 9 months ago
@MoreDakka101 The 64 doesn't win enough of these IMHO! Nice work Loco.
